Hi ladied,
I can’t sleep so I thought I’d do a note for those who are nervous.
I had my op at 6pm on 13/11/2018 & leading up to it I was completely fine, no nerves just pure excitement. A couple days before the nerves hit me hard. I struggled to sleep, kept asking myself if I was doing the right thing (even considered backing out I was so scared!)
Op day arrived & 2 hours before I went to hospital my heart was banging in my chest so bad my chest ached – I was petrified. I was having 300cc teardrop unders, nipple lift & my breast bands scored to create a natural shape (I’ve got/had tuberous breast)
I arrived at my hospital at 4.30pm & was taken straight to my room where obvs were done , I was drawn on by the surgeon. I walked myself to the anaesthetic room & was told to lie in my bed. At this point I was shaking I was so nervous. The nurse was talking to me about my job when the local went into my hand for pain relief for the anaesthetic. The cannula was put in & I was told to hold my oxygen mask. I remember nothing else after this until I woke in recovery! (Cannula or local did not hurt one bit!)
In recovery, I was fine. I started shaking so the nurse covered me in a warm blanket & I told them all I was going to buy them Krispy Kremes haha. Shaking is nothing to worry about, I actually found it quite amusing! My chest felt super tight like someone was sat on it & I struggled to take breaths.
I was returned to my room ( no sore throat just REALLY thirsty) & kept talking to make me take deep breaths (much to my partners annoyance). I ate & all was okay! I felt a little bit sick after but that went in 5 minutes.
I was told I have drains (can’t feel them at all) & they will be removed later this morning (I will keep you updated with how that feel!
I’ve been keeping up with meds & honestly the tightness has eased off massively & there’s no pain just discomfort.
During this lengthy message; the nurse popped in & topped me up with meds. She helped me get out of bed to go for a wee. I won’t lie, this was hard!! My chest went super tight & I struggled to breath & getting back comfy in bed was a bugger!!! Unpleasant but still manageable š
Honestly girls I really mean it when I say it’s fine & you have nothing to worry about. I couldn’t believe how quick it all was!
I highly recommend bringing a travel pillow. It’s no nice to rest your head on something. Good luck with all your up coming ups & honestly YOU WILL BE FINE š xx
Hi Tiffany,
Thank you so much for this post! My op isn’t for another 3 months but nerves keep creeping in! I read a blog and the girl was saying how painful the cannula and anaesthetic was and it’s really playing on my mind!
She also had drains and said how painful they were, especially having them removed. The whole blog was like a horror story lol.
So thank you for reassuring me!
What did you bring with you for the surgery? Also did you buy a v pillow and if so where from?
Sorry for the questions haha, I’m just so excited!
Thanks,
Lizzie xx
Hi Lizzie, no worries ask away!
Honestly the cannula is fine it didn’t hurt at all. It just feels like a normal jab so slight scratch & it’s done. I was so distracted anyway I wasn’t paying too much attention!
Anaesthetic is a breeze, I had no idea I’d gone to sleep & woke up really shaky but again nothing to worry about!
Drains were weird to have removed. They weren’t painful at all but we’re uncomfortable. Where they were removed the area was a aching for a while & my right hole kept letting our air every now & then when I moved & it was disgusting haha.
I stayed over night so I took….
– bra
– pjs
– slippers
– dressing gown
– trackie (went down in it)
-toiletries
– pill
-travel pillow (best thing I took)
– charger/kindle/earphones
I bought my V pillow from Groupon for Ā£11 it’s a fluffy one š xx
Hi Tiffany:-)
I have my op in 2 weeks and Iām petrified of needles – so this was nice to read that the cannula does not hurt!
I was just wondering, did your partner stay at the hospital/ wait there while you were in surgery?
Thank you xxx
