Op done yesterday – 1 day PO :D

Wow, I’m so relieved. Just came back from London (had my op with Transform @ riverside) and the experience from start to finish was just wonderful. When I got there, I was greeted by two lovely nurses who were really sympathetic towards me even when I started crying like a baby when I left my mum at reception to go and get gowned. I was a complete nervous wreck, so much to the point that the anaesthetist wasn’t happy with my pulse each of the 3 times it was measured. Was so scared, it was something like 129 bpm, you’d think I’d just come off the treadmill! I was petrified of the whole procedure and post-op complications that I was ready to back down. Shaking, restless, you name it. Then he told the nurses to give me some benzodiazepenes and I was great after that, couldn’t wait to get on the operating table. There was a delay, my op was meant to be at 2pm but got into theatre at 5pm. I was really dehydrated and hungry as I hadn’t been able to eat anything at all the whole day before my op and that morning so the house doctor came around and gave me a drip and well the hardest part was over because once I was on that table the anaesthetist just shoved the GA into me and it took somewhat 20 seconds for it to knock me out. I felt a weird sensation as it was injected into the cannula, like a weird light ‘chestedness’ almost – my upper body felt really light, after that, I was well and truly out of it. When I woke up in theatre right after my op was done, my surgeon (Dr Giannas) said the first thing I said when I came out of the GA was “How’s everybody this evening?” and when he asked me how I felt and replied with “Like I’d just had chest day at the gym” which they seemed to laugh at, don’t know whether I was talking absolute crap or not but my mum and stepdad said I was giggling when they wheeled me back into my room and fell asleep for a good 3 hours. The GA was really easy on me but I felt a little nauseous, nothing another sleep didn’t solve and I was sporadically falling asleep and waking up all night long and then at 4pm I’d forgotten to watch Hollyoaks so I did just that.

Generally, I didn’t have much problem getting up, I got up twice in the middle of the night to go the toilet and get changed. My chest muscles were very sore and a greater range of motion with my arms was painful so I limited that. I had a massive problem with my sports bra which would not zip around my boobs at all and required two nurses to zip it up for me, because my left side was burning so much I couldn’t help to close it together. It was a 36DD aswell and it was so tight that I couldn’t breathe and began chafing and in the end the zip on the sports bra just bust and couldn’t zip back up again after the nurse came to take my dressings off, but luckily I had a 38DD bra from Asda in my bag as a back up which is still quite uncomfortable but nevertheless will fit well once the swelling is down. When I got up to look at my boobs I was blown away by the size, they look a nice full D at the moment. I had 420cc overs, didn’t think I’d be this big, though.

I’m terrified of infection and capsular contracture though, I am prone to tooth infections and I had one about a week and a half before my op which has cleared up now, and was worried out of my mind as that does increase risk of infection. I am expecting the worst though, infection, would hardly be surprised. I’m so unlucky with this stuff in general so preparing myself for the disappointment now.

Sorry for the long life story and the crappy pics but that’s all I could manage with my t rex arms, did try to take one in the mirror but felt really nauseous so had to lay down. The one in the sports bra is a few hours post op and the one in the grey top was this morning just to see how they look at this point in a normal top.

So glad you had a nice experience. I’m one week post op, had 340cc overs with transform also, and had a great experience with them. It’s so scary going under GA but it’s really easy and knocks you out straight away. Hope you heal well. Enjoy your new boobs 😀 x

Which hospital did you go to? The nurses at Riverside were sooooo lovely too, particularly my night nurse, can’t fault her. Overall so pleased with the hospital experience. GA was so worrying but in hindsight was the easiest part of the whole thing. How are you coping with your recovery?x

I went to the pines hospital in Manchester and had a really good experience the nurses and healthcare assistants were so kind and patient. So far I’ve no pain at all with my boobs but I’ve got really bad neck and back pain from sleeping on my back and having to wear the sports bra. Which surgeon did you have? x

I had Mr Giannas – not many people have heard of him at all actually he’s not as mentioned as Mr Singh or Mr Khan on forums and such but he’s such a lovely man, couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon. I’ve got very bad neck and back pain too and it’s only been one night. I’m a major side sleeper so I don’t foresee myself getting any decent sleep anytime soon. Are you happy with you’re size at this point? X
