Op this week! Hair Extentions!

Help! So I have metal hair extentions and I am very reluctant to take them out as I have done my resereach and can see pretty much no one has ever fall victim to pre operative burns due to hair extentions! Can someone help me out and let me know if you managed to do your opp without them noticing? I really don’t fancy paying to take them out and put them back in and it’s takes bloody ages!

Hi Rachel, I had my op today at Preston & I was asked by 3 different nursing/ theatre staff many check list questions. One of which do you have any metal in or on your body & the theatre nurse actually said none in your hair that’s tied back. It would be a shame to get that close & have op re scheduled but I get what your saying & totally understand your frustration xx

Just be careful as I was told by my nurse that if they cancel and reschedule the fee for rescheduling is rather pricey xx

I had my op at Preston and it was the same as Teresa described, my hair was tied up and the anaesthetist actually took my bobble out down in theatre and ran her hands through my hair and left it down. Thought it was a bit strange at the time but I bet she was feeling for extensions. I wouldn’t risk it personally cos I’d be gutted if they cancelled my op xx

I had to take mine out, was so gutted but it was worth it xx

i had to take mine out and got them back in day after op!! they can cancel ur op due to metal xxx

Hi hun,

I took mine out but when i mentioned it to my pc she said i didnt have to and she would note it down on my forms. Best to ask your pc. Everyone works differently xx
