Open rhino cast bandages highgate bleeding

I have bled through the bandage that holds my cast in place :0
Has anyone else had this because I’m worrying about having a stained dressing for 2 weeks until I get it off 🙁

Hope you are OK honey. I;ve seen plenty bleed lots. I bled all over the pillow, in my eyes, and all over my hair xxx

I’m just bothered about the bandages though
, one side has a puddle of blood.
Struggling to drink too 🙁

Well swelling and bruising starting to improve. But the nostrils are so closed up with swelling and scar tissue. Couldnt even begin to fathom how to get drops up there! Still very unhappy with upturned tip. Lot and lots of dripping – mix of blood and clear/snot type stuff. How long were you in surgery? x

its totally normal, my eye bled LOL just where everything is connected its scary but normal, try to relax as when you are panicing it makes it worse! congrats on both your ops xxx

Rinx – my eyes bled too!!! My nostrils are so full of gunk/swelling that I cant get the drops up – how did you manage? xxx

honestly first night in the hospital I regretted I was crying all by myself I was thinking what the F have I done to myself blood all down my gown everywhere I was such a mess, I lost a stone in a week as I couldn’t eat anything, literally soup because he took my nostrils in I was a state but it does get better, firstg 3-5 days are the worse! day 9 -10 I was out shopping! its such a frustrating thing like even drinking I couldn’t drink without nearly choking because of all the shitty stuff down the back of my throat and not being able to breath! but its all worth it in the end! main think to do is to rest, drink loads of orange juice eat lots of fruit makes you feel refreshed xxx

oh and I wasn’t given anything to put up my nose, he told me he didn’t like it as it just un settles things its best to let it go by it self xxx

Ah, OK, the pharmacist gave me them (she’d had rhino and used them). I thought he said not to, and asked my PC to ask him, but you know how they can be on getting back to you…..xxxx

Can’t properly reply yet I’m trying to unblock my nose, I’m swollen up completely can’t breathe one bit. Nostrils are almost closed. Stitches look disgusting, have to put another dressing on before I hit that kings cross :”””(

Dont panic about not being able to breathe out your nose, i didnt regain full breathing until my cast was off, just grin and bear it. (still wake up and one side is blocked but eases when im up and walking) It will pop bubble and alsorts when you eat, sneeze, drink, swollow and everything dont worry. Put me right off food, and i got a bad tummy from the antibiotics so i didnt have a full meal till my 10th day. drink lots xxx

P.s. dont worry about your cast/bandage mine was filthy by day 14! xxx

I was just really happy when they took the packing out because I could breathe and now it’s the same as before they removed it!
I’ve only had 1 paracetamol though, hardly no pain 🙂

Oh tea, my nostrils are a mess, I don’t know how they’ll ever be clear again. I’ve not seen anyone on here with nostrils that you can’t see up because there is cartlidge or something blocking them 🙁 :-(xx

it will eventually clear by it self, no prodding or poking, it will go, sounds nasty but itl just go down the pack of your throat lol, and no blowing nose for 4 months xxx

Hi I have had open rhino 2 days ago just on the tip so I do not have a cast on just tape and my nose keeps leaking and have a lot of dried blood which is making it difficult to breath through my nose, have you got some gauges to tape under your nose to catch anything that leaks? Also could I ask if your nose feels numb? Xxx

I’ve got drip pads to catch it, it is absolutely oozing. x
