I’ve read a lot of people are driving between 7-10 days but everyone’s different. I guess you won’t be able to tell until the time comes but that’s great that you’ve booked in for your birthday 🙂

Hi Hun, I drove myself to my POD7 check up with the Nurse and was fine. I did find I was a bit stiff and couldn’t turn around to see my blind spots properly so I made sure I had someone with me in the car. Everyone heals differently so you could be ok but I would defo suggest having someone with you for the journey if you are going to drive and dont put seat beat across your chest. 🙂 xxx

I am 7 days post op and it is very hard to expand my chest fully and am constantly short of breath so I think it is optimistic to be trying to sing a week after! Just saying because I didn’t expect myself to still be out of action a week after, even though I’ve had no pain.

Also, my back is very hunched over which people at work have noticed and I think this happens to a lot of girls post op. I can’t physically stand up straight due to chest tightness so if this happens to you, you might not feel confident enough to do a show.

Not bursting your bubble but I have been surprised about the hunching and wish someone had warned me as I would have booked more time off – it’s pretty embarrassing walking round like this.

If you’re having unders it might be different but it’s 100% not something to overlook!! Xxx

    Thank you everyone !!
Yea you’re right! Didn’t really think about shortness of breath whilst singing, maybe il just have to work on practising with breathing techniques or something.

If worst comes to worst I could always be driven 🙂 x

What type of anaesthetic are you having? As it sometimes makes your throat really dry and sore I know for sure I couldn’t of sang (if I could do it in tune) a week after my op x

It’s twilight sedation? So it’s a lighter form of been put to sleep apparently!
Maybe it’s just better to just cancel the gig to be on the safe side! X

I drove at POD 6. Only problem was I couldn’t get it into 5th gear, had to reach over and do it with my other hand. I had unders but I didn’t really have any pain from the beginning, my recovery has been so easy. Everyone is different I’d give it a go around the week mark see how you get on x

I used to dance so I know a fair few singers and there’s nothing worse than having a sore throat/strained voice personally yes I would cancel to be in the safe side as you don’t want to cancel last minute and ultimately loose future gigs and recommendations xx
