I have a really physical job as I work as a support worker with disabled young people which involves pushing wheelchairs, bending down etc all day. Anyone else got a demanding job like that and how did you find going back to work after op? When might I be back to normal and be able to do everything I used to? X
Hey girls! I’m 3 weeks post op on Saturday! I had partials! I’m a hairdresser and my surgeon said I can’t blowdry for 6 weeks! Which is obviously really annoying news! So I originally was going to take 2 weeks off but I’m actually on my third week off now as I wasn’t ready after two! So if you can see if you can leave you third week open to see how you feel!! Remember everyone heals at different speeds! Listen to what your body says! That would be my advice!!xx
Thanks for the replies :). I’m going to try and get it booked in dec, as I have three weeks off work. I don’t think my managers would react well if I had to take more time off. If I got a note from my gp to say I can’t lift etc for 6 weeks would they have to accept that? Thanks Gemma 🙂 xx
Yes if you have a sick note from your GP work can’t despute it, but it would obviously go down on your records as sick and your pay may change, depends!
I have had to have six weeks off work, I’m a student and a par time swimming teacher and lifeguard so I can’t swim or go in the water, I had a doctors note and work were fine about it! xxx
I’m a nurse and went back to work after about six weeks, to be honest I think it was too soon because my incisions came open and I think it may have stretched my scars. its different with everyone but you should speak to work. see if you can use up some annual leave from next year or something, and you need to be really careful that you don’t get hit accidently in your boobs x
