Really not happy with the way mya work, so I’m booked for surgery on 26th November (1week and 6 day) had my pre opp Friday everything went well so I though! Just cos I was giving anti depressant pills in 2010 the nurse wanted conformation that my mental health was ok!! So my doctors have confirmed this and said I’m perfectly fine for surgery as it was a one off! Baring in mind I never took the pills….. Now my nurse has passed this on to some1 else just to make sure! So now it is still uncertain that I’ll still have my opp on that date! Just depends on the surgeon!!! Why take my money before doing a pre opp surley this should of been done before!! Can’t even feel excited now!! I feel sick with worrie incase they tell me I can’t have it! As I know they did with one other person!! I’m perfectly fine and healthy and am not depressed or have mental health issues so why judge me but some thing that happene 3 years ago!!!!

So I contacted my PC and told her so the nurse called me a couple of hours later but it’s not fair at all!! I’m gutted iv wanted this for so long I wouldn’t mind if I had boobs an was just wanting something bigger but I have nothing to fill a 34 aa bra!! So upset right now just want them to sort this out and let me now!!! Xx

Boe I was on anti depressants for a few years, told the clinic they were aware of it and I discussed it with the nurses prior to my surgury. There were no issues at all because I stopped taking them few years ago. Hope all works out for you. Xx

I’m on a low dose of antidepressant, and have been for about a year now – just for a general anxiety. Told them straight from the off and have had absolutely no issue about it whatsoever, nobody blinked an eye, even on the day of surgery! It’s odd that you’re having such trouble! x

Don’t mean to worrie u all! It just annoys me that they take the money before having all these checks first !! Why let us get our hopes up for them to be dashed xx

They have to do checks to cover themselves. If they didn’t and something went wrong then they could get into a lot of trouble. The fact your doctors have confirmed your fine I can’t see there being a problem. What clinic is it as I know Birmingham have a new nurse so maybe she’s being extra cautious – I’ve been on them after my son and advised them and the nurse was fine x

What are they actually worried about. The anti depressants in your system or mental health issues. Cos I had postnatal depression x

It’s very common for women to become depressed/anxious and down after surgery so I think for those reasons they have to just make sure everything is okay. I think checking with the doctor is fine. But if the doctors said its fine then that should mean its okay to go ahead. I’m unsure why they are still having to do more checks. I got post traumatic stress after my little boy but I put this on my paperwork and discussed with nurse and was fine xx

I think it’s mental health issues really! Wich I do get I mean if I was unstable to make decisions like surgery then fair anoth but I’m not it was a blip 3 years ago of me been abit stressed out! And no Rebecca I
At Leeds clinic in all fairness the nurse looked younger than me but still worries me! Xx

Like rebeccalou said they have to check your physical and mental health to cover themselves incase anything happens.
Naomi I think it is more to do with mental health issues and making sure the patient is making an informed decision about their surgery and that they are in the right frame of mind etc. – I am sure someone will add more if I am wrong.
However, saying that I understand what you are saying Boe about taking the money before having the pre-op but then I suppose they don’t want to go through all that and then someone turn around and say they aren’t going to pay! Bit of a tricky one! I hope you get it all sorted out though Boe xxx

We all have little blips. You’ve been honest and they’ve checked your records and your docs said it’s fine so not sure what the problem is.
Must be frustrating for you but I’m sure it will all go ahead so try not to panic yourself.

Who are u having. I’m booked in same day at droitwich with mr Schiavone

Yeah I’m sure it will all be fine but I’m a worrier anywAy nothing had ever gone smooth in life with me lol , I’m at high gate hospital with Helena! Naomi I had mine Friday but really chased my own doctors up went Tuesday got the letter and took it to clinics that day they contacted me today cos I was phoning them to check if everything was ok for the go ahead but the. She said it should be fine BUT she wanted it checking out with surgeon cos it’s up to there desgreTion to do surgery xx

I’m sure you will be fine boe, I has depression about 3 years ago but it was due to pain from a previous surgery but they haven’t mentioned it and my ops next Wednesday. It seems strange they didn’t pick it up with me further but they said it was fine as it was so long ago and was due to surgery pain (I had major surgery on my spine) I wouldn’t worry if your doctor says it’s fine they have covered themselves xxx

I came my antidepressants the month of my op, they didn’t even ask for a gp note, every company is probably different but a gp note is all you should need, as far as I know, the plastic surgery people aren’t trained to assess mental health x

Yeah well they said same to me! But the nurse has had to ask somebody else for there opinion and that’s why I’m worried if it wasn’t a problem then surley the nurse would of just said it was ok? Xx
