Hi all
I have just had vaser this morning on back, arms and front back abdomen, I was told in the meeting pre op that I would have a garment abit like a spandex and then a vest in addition.
However having now got home and access what I have been given now home (they put me in the garment when I was half asleep with the surgery so I wasn’t taking much notice.) I am in some horrendous all in one thing. There is no separate vest and it goes down past my knees to calves (even though I had nothing done om thighs/bum ???). The suit around the abdomen had just one hook attachment, nothing adjustable, bra area does not fit.
I am really not happy at all with this. I was prepared to have to wear loose clothing etc. I am normally a size 12 and even in the pain I was in tonight had to try a skirt that I wear for work and I honestly will be looking at having to put a size 16 and there was even give in the size 12.
I have checked the MaCom and cannot see what I am wearing to show you. Just looking for some advise or guidance on what everyone else does????????????
My job is a Corporate account manager and therefore I have to go out to visit firms for meetings and do presentations. I am in tears at this stage as there is no way on this earth I can present myself in front of potential customers with how I looked earlier.
Also the back had a drop which stick out and makes it all worse – has anyone cut this? Or how has anyone else got around these problems?
Please help xxxx
Hi hun. Your vest is probably under your Spanx as mine is. Yes you will look bigger, I know as I’m 6 days PO and that is how I feel and look. I’m just counting down the days till the vest can come off
Not sure why it’s only posted half my post!!
meant to say….
I’ve told people that I’ve hurt my back and have to wear a support. They way you sit down etc works with this too. Even wearing flatter shoes!! Or they think I’m pregnant, overnight! Luckily I work with a lot of guys do they don’t ask! But they keep asking if I’m ok so I think they are fishing!! It’s hardhoing back to work but I found the thought was harder than it was, although still hard!!
Not sure if you can wear trousers? I found some skinny trousers in the jeans section in primark – but the fabric isn’t jeans! And if you get a longer top, your legs look normal at least. And they don’t fall down from the skippy Spanx!
My nurse cut my vest down at the back and side but I’m not sure if they can if you’ve had your back done?
When do you go back to work? Keep your chin up, it will be worth it. And keep counting….only 13 days already
Make sure the 4d vest is under your long spanks garment lie down on your bed to put it on as you can get it tighter… I wore lose dresses and tights to hide mine and i cut it too so dont worry as its one side fits all (4d vest thing) …
try not toget yourself upset it will all be worth it

@Leanne – thanks for much for the reply – great to know I am not alone. I honestly never thought it would be like this – pain yes I can handle as I know it will go but looking like a complete mess and a cross between an egg/being pregnant and someone who has put on 3 stone overnight is not good – defo the worst draw back so far – I really hope this is all worth it – I had 1.5 litres taken how much did you have? what areas did you have done?
I am seeing the nurse today and see if we can cut this before I officially go back to work on Wednesday next week as working from home until then.
I have already thought of the back thing but don’t know how I will be positioning it meeting a new account for the first time, maybe if I wince a little as I sit down I can flippantly say oh just had back surgery last week !!!
How long do we need to wear the vest for?
@Amy thank you. Managed to lie down and check and yes there are two parts !! OMG how stupid was I – still boob area does not fit and is uncomfortable and squashes everything. What parts did you cut???
I will have to go clothes shopping in a day or so when everything settles down as nothing sits at the minute top or bottom. I was a size 10/12 on the bottom mainly a 10 and I honestly think I will need to buy a size 16 as the skirt was way off from zipping up when I tried in on last night in my moment of panic.
haha!!! I think i still have it in the house, will try and take a picture tonight to upload, i cut it so ut sat below my boobs (but i dont have much there) at the back I did too. but i used that bit to put at my crotch because when you sit for a long time at work you can swell abit (normal) and it stops the lower part of the garment digging in.
xx
Wow Amy, wish I’d thought of that for the crotch bit! Just recovering now down there! And I’m going to cut under my boobs too as its like I have a shelf just for my boobs!!
I just said I fell down the stairs and hurt my back and left it at that! And with work I said I had hurt my back but was too embarrassed to discuss it!!
You wear the best for 24 hours for 2 weeks, then just nights for another 2-4 weeks. To be honest I think once you get the initial return to work out the way you’ll feel better. I have been trying to hide it but today I just wore a jumper that makes me look square as my friends know I’ve hurt my back! And I plan to do the same next week! Then when it’s off I’ll look tiny!!
I had 1 litre removed from flanks, upper & lower abs. He only thought he’d get 750ml so I was pleased with that! I’ve added a before and after pic if you want to add me? X
Thanks ladies, went to see the nurse today and she cut off the back bit. The nurse said I have to ware the vest for 4 – 6 weeks – were you told the same??
Had no idea that I would end up like a square egg (if that is at all possible !!) I have no work clothes that fit on bottom and even though I was in pain today managed to get to two shops to get some trousers but with no joy….
Problem is I am normally a size 10 on bottom but the only trousers that would fit at the waist were all size 16 but way to big everywhere else so looks like I will be busy trying to get something that will fit hopefully will feel better than I do at the moment by Sunday.
Can I ask the following :
– Today and am more sore than yesterday – how long did it take for the pain and burning sensation (if you had this) to subside, when I am sitting still all ok but as soon as I move everything stings really really really badly !
– Did either of you ever have the lymphatic massages ?
– My “nether regions” are particularly painful – how long does that take to reduce in swelling (it was MASSIVE today with the nurse)? Also at times the front bit is digging in at times did you get this bit cut also ?
– I am working from home at the minute but then head off out on the road for meetings on Wednesday so will need to drive Tuesday night – do you think I will be in a better state pain wise by then (had the op yesterday) at this minute the thought of face to face/work/driving fills me with dread
– how can I see the pics of your progress? Would be great to see some progression with someone else ( with everything off today seen a small difference with abdomen but nothing noticeable with arms – although one side was still leaking badly)

Hi Steph
Asked for your friendship earlier today so if you add me you can see my before and after pictures.
I felt much stiffer on days 1 and 2 post op. Standing up was really sore in my tummy. Looked like a pensioner when I first stood up!! And on day one I remember not being able to sit in the sofa because I couldn’t get back up!!
Re trousers, you are going to hate me…. But have you tried maternity? I was going to but my home town didn’t have them in next. I have had the ones in the past with elastic fittings inside but they are just like normal trousers. (Btw I have two children, don’t normally wear maternity!!) anyway, next and topshop always had fab ones!
My nurse said 2 weeks for 24 hours, another 2 weeks for 12 hours, ie overnight/at home, and to get the best results another 2 weeks after for 12 hours.
I didn’t have any of the massages and no one mentioned them to be honest.
I have been really swollen and bruised ‘downstairs’. Wondered if I’d had another op by mistake
Arrrrgh, posting from my iPhone just doesnt work!
Rest of message…..
Re ‘downstairs’ it got better for me from day 5 when the swelling started going down. And today the brushing is starting to go. I have used ice and heat to try and help. I found it more painful after driving so I have been sat on a pillow in the car!!
Driving was hard when the vest was high but after it was cut down it was fine for me. I started driving on day 2 as I have the school run to do.
Re going back to work, the hardest bit is actually sitting upright, which the vest forces you to do. I even wore a sports vest bra top so that I didn’t have the wired digging in. I went back on days 4 and 5 and just felt exhausted last night. Even went to bed at 7! As long as you keep resting went at home you’ll be ok I think. I’ve had a day off today and tonight I was supposed to be out for a meal with friends but couldn’t face sitting upright all night.
Take it easy, it def gets easier! X
Hey Leanne, what a great idea. Maternity trousers would defo sort out the baggy trousers look – I will probably head out on Sunday for a nosey and pick up a couple of pairs, maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel 🙂 suppose just got to take it day by day however hard it is. It’s great to hear about your experience and tips. Going to relax tomorrow as have probably been running around doing too much yesterday and today. May try a short drive Sunday see how it goes before I have to do the 2.5 hour trip to Leicester on Tuesday…..defo will be taking a cushion 🙂 Will keep you posted on how I get on. Thanks again for everything. X
@stephwebb26 How is your recovery now? Did things get easier?
