Please tell me this is normal :(

Hello, had my ba on Friday 15th march- 450 partial unders. Feeling better each day- have expected achey and heavy feeling and strapping still on so very tight and uncomfortable but I’m coping!
My concern is that today I have had frequent stabbing pains and discomfort in my right breast only- it feels like pins and needles then pain- reminds me of the tender feeling when your milk is coming in when pregnant but I’m Also convinced that I can feel fluid moving when I lean forward/sit up etc?! I’ve been researching online- which always terrifies
Me as I start to convince myself in going to die or something!!!! ( drama queen at times)

I’m thinking it may be a seroma but how do I know when it needs medical attention or whether it will naturally drain overtime? Forgot to say hurts more when I’m leaning back like 45 degree- eases when I’m sat up. Feels warm inside too 🙁 I want to cry

The liquid moving and bubbling I had that it was mainly from when I went from lying down to sitting up, there is no other way to describe it other than blood feeling like it’s bubbling around the implant. I also had milk leaking!! The nurse took swabs and it came back normal..if you have any concern’s then ring your nurse just to be safe hun xx

I haven’t had mine but the nurse warned me about stabbing pains potentially being nerves/nerve endings disrupted during surgery reconnecting/sorting themselves out again. Sorry I can’t be more help, but it was something i was told to expect xxx

Seromas are the most common complication after breast surgery. Seromas are collections of lymphatic fluid that build-up under the skin, in the area of the surgery. Seromas may occur because during breast surgery small lymphatic vessels were cut. As you heal these small vessels will seal and stop producing fluid. Until that happens, there is a chance that the fluid they produce may build-up. Drains are placed during some surgeries to help reduce seroma formation. Seromas feel like the surgical area has filled up with water. It often feels soft like a water balloon and some women report being able to hear a swishing as the fluid moves. They are often painless but can become full and tender. Treatment of a seroma varies according to the size and pain level. A small seroma that is non-tender may be left alone. If a seroma has become large and tender it can be aspirated at your surgeon’s office. Aspiration of a seroma consists of inserting a small needle into the incision. This is usually not painful as the area tends to still be numb from the surgery. Once the needle is in a syringe is used to aspirate the fluid out. This should relieve any pain at the area. Sometimes this fluid will reaccumulate and require repeated aspirations. Seromas, whether they have been aspirated or not, should be evaluated for signs of infections. Warning signs that a seroma may be infected are: redness along incision, drainage of thick, foul-smelling, yellow or green material, fever or chills. Remember that seromas are extremely common. They have nothing to do with the cancer and are not a sign cancer is in the lymph nodes. If you think you have developed a seroma please call your surgeons office.

Don’t worry about the emotion and anxiety around worrying about it. It’s all natural and a lot of girls post on here about feeling teary etc. it does pass after about a week but if you need any assurance on the physical side contact your pc

I’ve had a awful day today!!! Just feel low and sad !! In such a worrier anyway so this pain is not helping at all 🙁
I shall see how tomorrow is and if the pain persists I will call the nurse. I suppose I should just remind myself what my body had been put through and I guess this pain is my body repairing itself.

Hey Hun, does your right breast look any bigger? I had a seroma and it was the size that made me realise, if your right breast doesn’t look any difference in shape or size I wouldn’t think it would be that. noticed mine at day 10 because the first 7 days I was strapped up and the 3 days after I noticed it getting bigger. I think it will probably just be everything settling down and the nerves joining back together. Xx

Hello Kirsty well it’s hard to tell as in strapped up kazzazi style lol but my right breast is more swollen and hard to touch than the other. My left feels relaxed and if I push/massage VERY gently it feels soft but my right feels full of pressure if that makes sense- I did think that because I’m right handed my right side may just be taking more time to heal due to more activity on right side?
Is it really bad if if is a seroma or easily treated? Thanks for replying Kirsty x

I hear if your right handed your right side takes longer to settle, same with left so that definitely could be it.My seroma was on my left. Honestly though Hun if it is a seroma its treatable without surgery so don’t panic, and out of all the things that could happen after surgery, a seroma is the easiest to treat I think.. For me it took a few weeks. I had a course of antibiotics and anti imflamitories, it was drained twice at the leeds clinic by mr Kazazzi (once a week), and I saw the nurse about 4 times a week for two weeks because the seroma was leaking from my scar and I needed to wear a dressing and have it cleaned and redressed. It was abit of a pain going to clinic so often but the nurses were so lovely, i had a lot more check ups and practically lived in the clinic for about 4 weeks in total,but ive nothing but good things to say about myas aftercare! It stopped leaking by its self though and everything is fine now (I think lol) my left boob is a little higher than the right but it was pre op…..I just never noticed because I didn’t take much attention of them! Is your strapping due off Friday? Xx

Thanks Kirsty feel much better now 🙂 strapping off on Saturday can’t blooming wait!!! It’s almost making me feel claustrophobic 🙁 horrible!!! Hopefully all will be fine, thanks again x

My rite breast was well bad with pain and my left wasn’t that bad also I had a bigger implant in the left and my rite is still bigger

My right still harder and more swollen and 6 weeks post op. I’m putting it down to being right handed and taking longer to drop. There’ll get there.

I hope they do it’s like a full half size got a feeling it’s not going to shrink down Im seeing surgeon on Thursday see wot he says been told it can take up to 3 months and I’m two months now x
