So that’s the easy part done!!! The girls are here. My God are they sore! Ha!
Thought since I’m pretty much house bound for a week i’d give you all something to read.
So yesterday was my surgery day. Up at 3am ready to leave for London. zZzZZz No food and only sips of water til 5 am was a killer, especially with my boyfriend chowing down on everything and anything during the drive .
We were making amazing time til we hit London at like 6.50 (admission time 7.30am) ROAD BLOCKS EVERYWHERE.
Tried calling ahead but every number I could find for the Fitzroy went straight to answer phone. Left a few messages and crossed my fingers id make it.
We finally park at 7.31 at this point I was tearing my hair out, verge of tears thinking they would cancel my surgery for being late, When we finally got to hospital I explained the situation to the receptionist (who may I add wasn’t all that welcoming she seemed pretty disinterested in all honesty…it was early on a Monday morning so ill put it down to that) who then told me to take a seat. A lovely nurse came down and collected me and took me to my room which was VERY warm but she did say when she came in it was extremely cold so she wacked it up! She was fab through out my experience out of all the staff she was definitely my favourite! In my room I was told to put on my gown and sexy pants which the boyfriend found hilarious! Jerk! I was given some awesome green compression socks and had to do the standard pregnancy test. I was then told to relax and that my surgeon would come down soon. Through out my wait I met a few other nurses, my anaesthetist who was a right chirpy fellow, another lovey gentlemen (not really sure if he was just another nurse but he prescribed all my meds and things and finally in came Marcellino who was hobbling on crutches.
When I asked what happened he was like hey, don’t worry, just too much sport I’m fine! We had a bit of a giggle and he marked me up. We decided on 425 cc over the muscle (he was super unsure at first as my boobs were so strange before) He did make sure I was ok with this and I told him I trusted him 100% to make the right decision. An hour later I was being taken to surgery! I walked to the pre op room where they lay me down and chatted to me about all the things they had done so far and what they will be doing this was purely a distraction technique so my anaesthetist could put my cannula in and give me all the medicine ready. Then all I remember is looking at him and going to sleep.
When I came round in recovery it was extremely relaxed. Almost felt like id had the best sleep of my life ( I was very tired from getting up so early).
There was a very nice nurse sat with me writing in a book, when she realised I was awake she took some obs asked me how I was feeling and things, id honestly forgotten where I was…I felt like I was in a spa somewhere haha!
About 12.30pm I was wheeled back to my room , my boyfriend (who had been out down Kings cross for a wander and to get some lunch) came in with gifts of cookies and a cute little Harry Potter key ring.
I felt really good, hardly any discomfort, wanted to sit up and eat and drink pretty much straight away.
We watched a few episodes of Mr Robot and over the space of the next few hours I saw all my nurses again, my anaesthetist came in to for a chat and that’s when that lovely man came back to prescribe my meds.
I was told id be able to go around 4.30 but the wait was on Mr Marcellino as he was very busy that day so around 5.30pm in he came with a big smile, he simply looked at me and said “You wanna go home?” I nodded and he sent me on my way! He tore off some of the strapping to show me my cleavage and I was like WOAH! they looked HUGE! 😀
Before I left I had my drains removed which honestly girls is not bad at all! I didn’t feel lefty at all and righty literally just felt strange! My cannula was out and I was ready to go! It was quite a strange discharge procedure very informal but I was fine with this!
I’m now at home after my first night of sleep which was fine, a lot more comfortable that I thought I would be ( prob the exhaustion and meds ha) sat up writing to you guys. When I stand up I’m VERY sore and I did have a stabbing pain in righty when I first woke but that’s numbed now after I took some meds.
I only took 2 pictures yesterday as it was all such a whirlwind but ill insert them down there and they are also on my profile.
Ill try and get some more over the week if I feel up to it!
To all the girls undergoing there surgery….GOOD LUCK and ENJOY IT!
And to all the girlies post op….HAPPY HEALING!
Any questions at all just ask!

Hi Sophie,, just read the above and thanks as it has really helped relax me as doesn’t sound so bad! As my op is in 10 days and pretty nervous about it! Hope you’re healing well, resting up and doing ok 🙂 x
Awww good I’m glad.
I read so many of these leading up to my surgery and ive found it really does help.
Not long to wait, it comes round so fast! Stay calm and relaxed 🙂
Thanks flower….im feeling it today I will admit but it could be so much worse!
xxx
I was late and they were amazing! 7am admission too – when you get to Fitzroy you have to click option two for ward and you will get to speak to someone just for anyone else as I was panicking! Also it wasn’t because it was a Monday I found reception staff really quite rude on arrival and when leaving the I was really dizzy and nearly sick and the two girls on reception were having a sniggle about it to themselves very rude. Good luck with recovery
Oh god it wasn’t just me then!!!
The girl behind the desk seemed very young and unprofessional in all honesty… everyone else was fantastic!
Thanks flower you too…. day one almost over and I’ll be glad to see the back of it! X
Day 1 and 2 weren’t the best then day 6 after the plasters were removed I was itching for like another day like crazy but completely fine now. It will all get better
Hi Sophie, liked reading your experience ???? I’m 6 days PO and still suffering a bit but I did have under the muscle. My room was also absolutely boiling, I nearly passed out at one point and had to open the window! The receptionist was quite sweet when we arrived and the nurse that came to get me was lovely and made me feel so comfortable even though I was sh*ting myself!! Nurses were also great that checked on me throughout the day. Don’t think my hubby was as impressed tho, after getting up at 4am, they didn’t offer him a drink until 5pm! Lol. Poor guy haha. Anyway, happy healing! I had 375cc in my right and 350cc in my left. I’ll see if I can upload a pic xx

I cant wait to get the strapping off Kelsey! Its driving me mad!
Oh bless you Emma! Ive had overs so I’m hoping it will ease up a bit soon!
Yours look fantastic!
I cant get a good look at mine coz of all the strapping.
I just had a shallow bath and it honestly felt vile.
Such an unglamorous experience haha xxx
thank you! One is much more swollen but it’s going to take time! My surgeon didn’t use strapping so I’m lucky to be able to look at them all the time lol. Shallow baths are awful aren’t they, I only managed to wash my hair today, It was so greasy I could have fried and egg on it! Defo unglamorous! Xx
