Im now 17 days po and am having nightmares with bra’s. My incisions are healing nicely but im finding the bra’s are rubbing them. I stopped wearing my Macom bra after about a week as it was uncomfortable to wear and switched over to an M&S high impact sports bra which is now uncomfortable. Popped into M&S and was told the following bra would be ok to wear as its supportive:

I tried it on and it was lovely, soft material, didnt rub on the incisions and with support.
Has anyone else been wearing anything other than a sports bra or Macom this early on?
Thanks xx
Hi Donna,
Feel free to ask your PC or clinic nurse about the MYA post op sports bra.
Love MYA x
That bra is underwired so is a massive no so early on. Maybe ask your PC/nurse for recommendations xx
I did look at those when I came into the clinic but to me they didnt seem very supportive.. I will speak to my nurse and see what she suggests. Thanks x
Hi Cath, The one I tried on wasnt underwired, it was just elasticated at the bottom. x

Asda have a good range of post surgery bras. I will be buying some after i get the al clear to change my macom after a week
Ah right, just that link is the one that is underwired lol.
My favourite one is my shock absorber D+ it has been a god send. I have 2 of the high impact sports bras from M&S and although they are comfy I don’t feel very supported in them.
I’d recommend the shock absorber, and my surgeon said it was perfect xx

Hi Donna I’m wearing the M&S post surgery bra and it is so comfortable and even though it’s a soft cup i feel fully supported.
The nurse said it was a great bra too. Xx

Cath where did you buy the shock absorber from? I’m reading so many different opinions on the types of bra you can and cannot wear. I just want to get the best bra i can and be comfortable until I can wear normal bra’s again xx
My favourite were and still are (I wear them at night) are from m&s pack of 2 EXTRA high impact sport bras. The band’s are very snug so I have to go up one. They are about £32
I got them off a website called ‘wiggle’ they sell out really quick on there tho but you can get them at Debenhams etc. Just type it in google and it will show where you can get them. Hope you get sorted soon xx

Hi @donna I got that bra out of marks and although my nurse told me it was fine to wear and it’s defo comfy but after a while I found it starts to rub on my scars after a couple of hours as the stitching is all inside unlike other post op bras xxxx sorry I got the same one but without the wire in it xxxx
Hi @stacey im soo pleased you said your nurse was happy for you to wear it. I wasnt sure if it was supportive enough. Is this the one you have:

Hi @donna I’ve just been to have my straps off and took the m&s high impact sports bra with the front fastening and I was strongly advised not to wear these.
I think it’s probably best to check with your own nurse/surgeron to double check as it seems different ones have different opinions. Xx
