Hey gorg girls,
Just thought I would share a few hacks that have made me super comfortable following surgery- I’m only POD 2 after getting 325 CC but feeling surprisingly good!
For those struggling to sleep upright/getting pain in your neck and lower back doing so… Don’t bother with a V shape pillow. Instead, go for a BATWING Pillow. This gives you support under the whole of your back, head and both arms so you can sleep comfortably upright and stops you from rolling over in your sleep. I’ve used a V pillow in the past and hated it, but with the batwing I’ve had no problems whatsoever and my back and shoulders etc have had no pain whatsoever! I just lay it on top of where my pillows meet together on my double bed- so comfy. I’ll give it to my Nan once I’m all healed as it looks like it’ll be an absolute mood killer with the boyfriend haha
The website I got mine from: https://www.completecareshop.co.uk/dressing-and-comfort-aids/support-pillows/batwing-pillow
Also, after surgery you will probs feel like you’re carrying a lot of fluid around your back/ribs/chest due to the swelling. This has been the worst pain for me and literally feels like I’m walking around like the Michelin man when I get up. Try AQUABAN tablets that get rid of fluid retention and it reduces it massively so you feel less swollen. If you try them, hopefully it will work for you too if you’re getting the same!
Finally, I bought two Macom’s as advised- the Signature Bra and the Ultimate Bra. I have found that the Ultimate Bra is wayyyyy more comfortable on my incisions as it seems to sit slightly lower on your ribs that the Signature Bra. My incisions have been tight and a bit itchy today so have really noticed the difference.
Hope this helps girls! Happy healing xxxxxxx
I’ve got my op in November with 300&325cc unders and this is really helpful. Thank you 🙂
Thank you that has been great help and I even looked at that as well!
That’s great info. Did you take Arnica for bruising? A friend told me she had after her ba? Thanks x
I took arnica from 2 days before my op and a week following it, I normally bruise like a peach and always have mysterious bruises on my legs and arms but I’ve had absolutely no bruising from the op
I haven’t tried arnica- may be a good idea though as I can see some bruises around my dressings!
Another thing was that I kept getting really bad hiccups after drinking or eating.. To help prevent this I have been undoing a few of the bottom hooks on my macom to help anything go down without as much restriction.
However, I got so bloated throughout the day and this evening so have been really off my food. Apparently it’s due to the medication.. Just now I have been sick and it’s as if I haven’t digested anything properly even from my lunch, so maybe the bad part of the process is starting 🙁
Sorry to jump on the post but where can I buy arnica tablets from? I can’t seem to find any X
I got mine from boots in the vitamin aisle. Think they were about £4 x
Thanks becki
Great tips! I love my Macom Ultimate too – I find it so comfy! The little bow is annoying under clothes though, so I cut mine off!
Wish I knew about that batwing pillow – it looks sooo comfy!
I’d also add these to the list of post-op hacks: http://www.wash-wizard.co.uk/ little sponges that you add water to and can clean yourself – you don’t need to rinse or dry your body and it feels like you’re getting really clean!
Hi ladies, I’m going for my ba on 17th Oct. I’ve read that post op bras shouldn’t be tight so if I’m a 32 but a 34 or 36? Thanks x
Hi Claire- I was a 32B pre op and bought a 32DD bra and it’s been fine- hard to get one but feels like I need it tight for the support of that makes sense? My advice would be to buy one 32 and one 34 maybe just before your surgery so that you can return the one that doesn’t fit xx
Thanks Megan. I’ll do that x
