    Hi Ladies,
What post op meds to they give you to take home? I am booked in the Fitzroy. Do they give them to you there or do they give you a prescription to pick up from a chemist?
I have seen a lot of posts on here about people setting an alarm to remember meds – is it safe to take any paracetamol / extra in-between? Seen a few posts of a lot of girls in pain and I just want to be fully prepared!
I have a slab of bottled water ready to keep by the bed, V pillow, cooling pads, hot water bottles, a pill box (to avoid screw top caps)…books, box sets etc etc. I am all set to go! xxx

    Hi Lorna

I had an antibiotic plus Robaxin (a muscle relaxer) and Co-dydramol (a pain killer). The reccommendation was to take the pain meds two hours apart, but if there was no pain don’t take em. I found that cycling meds the day after worked well and then I eased off. They are given to you at the clinic and someone explains the meds to you and your chaperone. I asked the doc to write down the times to take the antibio on the box and set an alarm to take the first one.
The nurse calls you the day after, you can ask her if you feel you need additional pain relief.
    Good luck x

You get given the meds by the dr at the hospital, I was given antibiotics and painkillers.
They will tell you when to take them all, I found I didn’t need any pain killers so didn’t use them in the end but was told that you can take extra paracetamol alongside the painkillers if you feel you need to. Some are told not to take ibuprofen, I was told not to take it for the first 2-3 days.
I’d say cool/ice packs and a v pillow are probably the best things to invest in as well as tv series but for me I was up and about after a day so found I didn’t need as much as I thought – I think this depends per person though and whether you have over/partial/unders xx
