What to expect when you’re expecting…identical twins girls 🥥🥥🤣🤣!
So I’m post op day 13 today and I thought I’d give an update and also advice/ review of what to expect for those pre-op 😀. I know before my op I was spending forever on here so I knew what to expect. Going to be totally honest with everything so you’re well prepared. Spoiler alert, not as bad as I expected and NEVER regretted my decision, and 💯 THE BEST thing I’ve done!!
First of all I was a very flat 32aa & 32A maybe ? Either way I had noticeable breast asymmetry and slightly tubular breasts.I had Dr Traynor. He’s very blunt and gives you a realistic explanation but honestly I loved that about him. He’s not unfriendly so don’t be put off by this. He knows what he’s doing!! I had 300cc in the left & 250cc in the right as this was the max that I could fit in as I’m a petite frame. I’m 4ft 11 & 6stone 7. I had high profile, textured, unders. Unders are a complete different story to overs. They are more painful in comparison and recovery is a lot longer. Ofc, everyone is different. I acc have a chronic health condition sooo I’m used to pain. My pain threshold is quite high and I didn’t go into the op naively thinking there would be no pain or discomfort. So this defo helped me.
However, honestly It’s all manageable so please don’t panic just prepare yourself mentally and there are a few things you can do to make your life easier during recovery. The pain is not as bad as I thought. I was given one codeine in hospital and then I had no pain killers or medication upon leaving, apart from a couple ibuprofen when I really needed something. I was a day case at Preston’s First Trust hospital. The staff there btw are all soooo lovely and Make you feel so at ease!!! So please don’t be worried about that or going under GA, it’s over so quickly!
So i had on lots of strapping for 9 days, it was actually so tight, the nurse said the tightest she’d ever seen it and there was a lot. Think because I’m petite they wrapped me up like a stuffed burrito 😂. To tell you how tight the strapping was, my skin bled when she was pulling it off. Yup sensitive skin and boobs and ouch that was soo sore!!! Buttt, just trying to tell you the tightness I had before was not really how tight yours will hopefully be if you have strapping haha! So I woke up fine, in a bit of pain but nothing unmanageable. I managed to get myself dressed, and was able to eat. Went home in a few hours.
But for the first few days there is pain. I had very sensitive nipples, on and off burning pain and sharp stabby intermittent pain, mainly when you move or are trying to use your upper muscles. It’s discomfort and tightness majority of the time though. But with unders you honestly just need to prepare for bed rest and have someone look after you. So the discomfort is all manageable. I found once I was propped up in bed and not moving a lot I was fine. It’s actually just more frustrating the little things you need help with. Like not being able to reach far for a drink, being able to flush the toilet, unplugging something, using your muscles that you don’t think about. I’d say get help for the first four days at least.
The tightness is definitely worse in the morning and is made so much worse the further you try to lie down. My bf actually got me a bed recliner, that you put behind your pillows like the top half of of a sun lounger 😂 so it props you up. It was £20, sooo worth it. This helped a lot, but somehow in the night I still managed to slide down and then I would wake in the night, every night for the first week feeling like it was a bit hard to breathe and the tightness being so horrible. The more you sit upright, the less this will effect you! So don’t be a rebel like me and keep trying to lie further back haha, I know it’s not nice sitting upright all the time but it’s worth it. Also helps with asymmetry and reduces swelling. Hence the horrible sharp pains when you then try to sit up.
After the first few days, you get used to the discomfort and tightness although you may be getting a bit fed up and frustrated. By day 8 I was feeling sooo much better, able to move a lot more. Again, remember it’s a 6-8 week recovery so I still can’t move my arms to say a high cupboard or lift heavy things etc. But I can sit on the couch better without it taking me like 10 mins to get up haha, I can shuffle back in bed, reach further, I’ve even done some light cleaning.
Two things I will warn you about which was the worst for me was THE BLOATING & the itching!! I’d read about it but thought I’d be fine because I wasn’t on any meds and it’s codeine that usually makes you constipated and bloated but it’s the GA that did it for me. It lasted for a week straight and I honestly looked 6 months preggers. After a week I took some laxatives even though majority of the rock hard bloating didn’t feel like constipation, but it definitely helped reduce it and also lots of water. My belly is back to normal now! The itching was more to do with the strapping but antihistamines helped a bit I think.
I’ve been out of the house for food, I’m up and about and actually been told I’m over doing it haha, so I’m trying to rest. But that just shows there is an end to your discomfort. I still get tightness in the morning a little when I’m sitting upright after having slipped down my pillows, but the tightness is wayyy better!! I feel like a new woman, almost back to my normal self apart from still limited arm movement haha!
In the beginning my right boob was a lot more sore and tight than my left, even tho leftie had the bigger implant. I’m right handed so my pectoral muscle is stronger & more resistant that side haha. I found I was doing most things with my left hand. My right side is also slightly lower than my left, weirdly dropping a bit quicker? Asymmetry after op is completely normal even if you didn’t struggle with it before, because your boobs don’t heal at the same time. Sooo really hoping they’ll be more symmetrical when they’ve dropped and fluffed.
I’ve tried to give a detailed review to help, but please don’t be put off. I know everyone is different, but honestly it will be so worth it for your new boobs. I will try to attach pics to show you the journey. Boobs still tight and high up, I’m so happy with the size. I hope I don’t lose too much when they settle!
Sending you lots of love! Hope this has helped, I know it’s an essay but these helped me haha!! Xxxx
This is so helpful Jess, thanks for sharing! Glad you’re getting on so well – would be great to see before & afters once you’ve settled!
Hi Jess! Do you have pics? I have mr traynor tomorrow and I’m similar stats to you! I’m getting 225/250 x
So glad my essay helped Claire! Here if you have anymore questions etc! And I’ll try to upload Pics not Abigail, good luck for your op! It’s so exciting 😀! I promise in two weeks you’ll be so happy haha! I just took my bandages and steri strips off today and I’m so happy! can’t wait for them to drop and fluff haha! Xx
Hopefully this works! 😫 Tried so many times now!!
Thanks so much Kaz 😀! Hope you’re doing well!! Xx
4 week update! The top two 14 days post op and the bottom 28 days post op! My left breast is still tighter than the right and more firm and I’m hoping that will drop soon and the nipples will be more symmetrical!
Thanks for all your info Jess!! Boobs look fab😍.. I originally had my boobs done by Mr Traynor like 11 years ago now and have booked back in for January with him to go bigger but am so scared dont feel like im as brave as I was when I was 18 and reading about the pain is making me cringe 🙈 i also now have 3 children so my hubbys gonna have few days off but cant have longer than that so I am hoping its not too bad. You said iver isnt as painful as unders? Im currently under but he has said change to overs now x
Heyy! Aww thanks, and don’t worry! I think you’re actually stronger as you get older, you’ve birthed 3 children you’re strong !!! Haha! Obviously everyone has different pain thresholds, but most of what I’ve read or people who’ve had overs have basically said they don’t really feel too much pain and it’s more tightness and after a week or so you’re okay. With under the muscle it’s literally moving your pectoral muscles and takes like 6 weeks to be able to do most things! So I think overs with you having kids will be so much better! Wishing you the best of luck!! It’s normal to be nervous but I bet it will all be worth it! I’d have my op done over again and even though recovery has been long as a whole it’s not been nowhere near as bad as I thought pain wise! ❤️ Xxx
