So I’m having my pre assessment tomorrow in Newcastle.
Is there anything I need to ask or find out?
Any tips for surgery would be great too. Thanks xx

Hi Amanda, make sure you have your nhs number as a number 1 priority! 🙂 The pre op assessment is pretty straight forward, blood tests, weigh you, the nurse goes through the procedure in more depth with you, gives information packets about what to do leading up to surgery/post surgery.

I say this on every post lol but honestly one of the back bed rests is a life saver and I think helped me be fully mobile by day 4 PO. Everyone is different, but by having that behind (even covered with loads of pillows) you have something stronger to push up against and support your body weight when getting out of bed!

As well as having lots of healthy food prepared in advance because the last thing you want to do(or be able to do) is be cooking!

best of luck with your pre op & your surgery hun which i assume is coming up quite soon 🙂 xx

Hi I had my pre op today, really early I thought as not having op until 25 th July. I didn’t have my NHS number and wasn’t asked, so don’t be to worried if you can’t find it as long as you know were your GP is they will get them. The nurse did say I didn’t need blood test thankfully but every thing else was the same as what I had today. X

Hi @claire just be careful about your NHS number as my doctor wouldn’t give them it cos of confidentiality I had to find it my self and give them it so they could give the doctors it to access my notes and say I was fit for surgery xxxxx
