Pre op

Got my pre op on Thursday could anybody tell me what goes on please? Xx

The nurse checks your weight, height and medical history. Then bloods if required. Also takes MRSA swabs and before pics of your chest. X

My nurse was so lovely! i think i spent most my time in there asking questions lol but i did do height and weight then photos. after that i had my swabs and blood taken then i asked about macoms vs sports bras and about the sleeping upright etc

In what circumstance would blood need to be taken?

Thank you for all your info, does anybody know how close you have to be to drive home from having your op? Mine says day case but does that mean I can go home? When I googled how close I live it was 1 hour 49 mins. Wanted to be home really because I have children if not I need to sort childcare xx @bex282 @ellie2015 xx

well day case means you can go home did they ask where you live coz they might get a bit funny if you say its 1 hour 49 mins away. i live 2-3 hours away depending on traffic but because i wanted a day case i said I’m going back to my mums house which is a 45 min drive away and she was fine with that x

i didn’t get the choice to get bloods taken or not? she asked me the last time i had bloods and swaps done and i said a few weeks back but she still done them..x

I was told today I have to stay within 30 minutes of the hospital as a day case.

So I’m staying at the hotel around the corner the night of the surgery.

Think you have to be an hour away max x
