Pre-Op advise

Hiyaa girls.. although it says on the paperwork not to drink 2 weeks pre op, can anyone help me out on how strict this is like for example having a glass of wine with dinner? Ive got 12 days until the op but got a big family dinner on Saturday to go to. Thanks 🙂 xx

I got told no drinking 2 days before! :/ I better go check my paper work! X

i got told to not drink 1 week before lol, seems like its different everywhere, although they say dont smoke aswell i had a fag 3 hours before my surgery and i drank up to a week before x

I got told 48hrs b4 op xx

It says 2 weeks as alcohol thins your blood and can slow down healing, I drank 12 days before but I wouldn’t have risked a week! If you lost a lot of blood you’d have to have a transfusion which believe me is not fun! Good luck for your op xx

I also got told 48 hours for a drink and no smoking two weeks before. BUt the nurse then said nobody doesn’t smoke for two weeks before so at the very least try give up and if you can’t then just don’t smoke on the day of surgery. Seems there is different advice x

I think as long as you dont drink a huge amount you will be fine x

Thank you girls for the help.. it does seem everyone gets told different things but i think one cheeky glass of wine tomorrow wont do too much harm i hope!! xx
