    Hi,
This may sound a bit silly but did anyone prepare foods for after op before they had their op, i.e. Did you prepare meals in advance and freeze them or keep portions in fridge etc. If so, what kind of meals did you prepare and for how long did you prepare for?

I’m a mum to two girls, one aged 10 and one aged 6 and don’t want to be relying on my oldest to help too much after my op as it isn’t really fair. She does help me lots already around the house but I don’t wish to be expecting too much of her when she has been at school all day and has homework and is preparing for her exams.
My partner works 4 days on and 4 days off but on his working days he is constantly on call after he gets home from work so cannot guarantee that he will be home at a particular time each day.

I’m thinking it will be easy if I prepare some meals in advance (not all) as I don’t feel I will be up to much cooking or cleaning for a couple of days after.

    Thank you 🙂 xx

Hi Kelly, I’m just finishing up my food shop for my recovery.

I have prepared loads of soup which is in the freezer, by have bought some chicken soup, pre-made salads, fruit, nuts, “healthy” readymeal curries, microwave rice, juices, pizza.

I don’t have anyone looking after me for majority of recovery so trying to keep it really simple and easy. If I can use my arms more after a few days to prepare something else, great, otherwise I’m going for pre-prepared and readymeals.

Also have a couple of lasagnes in the freezer. This should last me at least week. Trying to keep salt low to minimise swelling xx

Thank you for your reply bea.
It dawned on me when I was cooking the girls tea today that I probably wouldn’t be able to make a ‘proper’ meal for a couple of days.
I have frozen some bolognese today that was left over from tea and my mind went blank as to what other things I could pre prepare.
Oh soups are a fab idea, thank you. Tomorrow’s job for after work is preparing a couple of soups that will freeze 🙂 I will also prepare a couple of lasagnes too.
I didn’t think I would be the only one that would have thought about it but couldn’t find a thread that would answer my question xx
