Hey so I haven’t seen my surgeon yet due to see him Monday July 3rd but I’ve been offered London and Preston I’ve chosen Preston as be easier to get with as traffic in London will be a night mare , so I’ve been given December 15th and I was wondering if you can help with some questions

Reason because I have babysitters to watch my kids with family members

    – when you arrive roughly how long is it till you go down from admission time ?

    – after surgery how soon can you go home like how long did it take

    – what was the pain like out of 10 ?

    – what was u like when you woke up like could you stay awake or was u falling asleep on the spot as when I get home I will be haveing the kids back and one is really clingy to me ?

    – how long after surgery like days did u feel you could do things like for me I will be feeding the baby nappy changes etc ? Obviously my partner had two weeks off so he will help but something I need to do

    – what was your experience with Preston like ?

    – also how did you get on with the traffic as it’s going to take me 2 hours and 45 minutes to get home xx

My admission time at Preston was 8am, I arrived at 8:20 due to there being Road works on the road the hospital is on (bare this in mind). I was 2nd on the list, went down for surgery at 10:40 (I was lucky).

I came out of surgery and recovery back to my room around 12:30ish, I set off back home around 3:45 (again lucky).

Straight after surgery pain was around 6/10- you’re still feeling pretty high- the pain kicks in later.

I was falling asleep in the car home, but after getting home I didn’t go to sleep until night time- around 10:30pm. I was in pain though and getting comfortable was very hard.

I had surgery on the Thursday, I didn’t get my son back until the Sunday, I was still in a lot of pain at this stage and couldn’t have looked after a baby, my son is 4. My recovery improved around day 4-5. I was fully mobile all the time and felt totally better, apart from the muscle aches and pains.

Preston was nice, the staff were fab and really comforting.

My drive was an hour and half each way. Hope this helps

No problem. I was hoping for an early time too- so glad I got one! They say it’s 48 hours before your surgery. However I got my email with the time on the Saturday. So quite a few days in advance x

My admission time was 11 and I was in my room at 10:45 as I got there early.
I went into surgery at 1:30 & was back in my room by 14:50.
I felt fine after surgery, a little tired but nothing too bad.
I have had no pain through my recovery so far, I’m 1 week post op.
I lived 1 hr 45 away but stayed over in a hotel as that it’s what was advised 🙂

Hey! I had my op nearly 2 week ago at Preston. My admission time was 11.00, I arrived just on time due to road works but it is quite hard to find so give yourself plenty of time. Overall it took me an hour to get there. Once there I was told I was SIXTH on the list, out of 7 🙁 I eventually went down at about 2.00, I was out for half 3 and finally let home at 7pm. The pain when I initially woke up wasn’t too bad I would say a 6/10. Drive home was quite hard. I have a 4yr old little boy and unfortunately my partner couldn’t get time off work so it was hard when he wasn’t in nursery. The first morning I found really hard I was in a lot of pain. I stayed in bed all day! I didn’t realise at the time but I have bruises under my right boob quite severe which caused it to swell up bigger than my left. I didn’t give myself time to just relax and recover I thought I should carry on as usual because I spent a whole day in bed ( which isn’t like me and not something I enjoyed doing ) so the following few days I was getting my son ready because his dad was working, walking about trying to clean etc. I would really recommend u try and not do anything! I found the pain so hard to cope with for a good 5 days and sleeping was defiantly not happening for me as I just couldn’t get comfortable. Def keep on top of your pain killers and meds. Just to top it off the anti biotics they gave me for a week gave me thrush! Was really not the best time ha. I’ve just read that u have a baby, accept as much help as u can! Preston hospital is great everyone there was so nice they make u feel at ease. Im day 11 now and feeling so much better I’ve not take any pain relief for the last 2 days now so it really is just the initial week that is hard! Good luck with everything you will be fine xxx
