Hi girls, bit of a random one. To cut a long story short, i had an operation in april to remove pre cancerous cells from my cervix. I have a smear test next wednesday as you need to have one six months afterwards. I had my pre op assessment today for my BA and the nurse said they will need to request details of the op. She also asked if i had been retested and i said no, not yet. Im worried my GP will say i cant have the surgery becayse i wont have had the results from my follow up smear tp check all the abnormal cells have gone. Has this happened to anyone before? What do u girls think? Ill be so gutted if my surgery has to be postponed! Xx

Im not sure, when is your surgery and when do you expect results?
Mine is not really the same but my BA is this Saturday. I had a general anaesthetic last wednesday and you wouldn’t believe what I have had to do for my op to go ahead! I have needed to sign a disclaimer, I have needed to provide a discharge letter and I have needed a GP report! But my surgery has been agreed to all go ahead FINALLY!! My PC rang me this evening to say it was all ok!! Fingers crossed you dont need to postpone xx

My surgery is 14th november, and my smear test is 2 weeks & 2 days before (29th october). The results come back within 2 weeks so i might just be able to manage it! Ill ask the nurse when i go on wednesday and see what she thinks, and if theres any way they can speed it up. What a nightmare!! Really glad you got the go ahead for your surgery 🙂 xxx

Is there no way you can push for your smear a week early or get it done at a women’s clinic? My results came back within 7 days for my smear so hopefully you might be okay 😀 xx

i did originally have it booked for 5th november, i changed it last night to the 29th oct as thats the earliest they could do 🙂 ill look into getting it done at a woman’s clinic though, fab idea! 7 days, thats really good! xxx

Hun I understand your frustration but it would be in your best interest to make sure you have the all clear with that situation, and then you can look forward to your op after all that’s more important even if you had to wait another few weeks it surely is worth it. Xx

Hey claire, ah yeah its definitely best to make sure i have the all clear first if thats what they say. Like you said, it would be worth it for my health. It would just be a bit frustrating as already planned time off work, booked hotels etc but its not the end of the world if it happens – will just have to have it done a bit later. xxxxxx
