    Hi,
Has anyone had their surgery cancelled due to illnes on the day that was out of their control?
Did you have to pay to reschedule? if so how much? or did you loose your deposit?
This is very unclear on their policy email
I really want to get this booked but need all the payments and charges clear before I pay out.

    Hi Hun,

I know it’s £150 to change the date of your surgery..not sure if it’s just that standard amount or differs if it’s due to illness etc but I would imagine it to be a flat rate despite the reasons to change the date xxx

I don’t know the answer to this I’m afraid but I googled the question and here is what I found:
“Elective cosmetic surgery should be performed with as minimal risk as possible. Therefore, it is best to be healthy before your surgery. If you happen to develop a cough or cold before surgery with fever your procedure may need to postponed. The risks are that your cold can worsen due to the stress of anesthesia and surgery or worse that you could rarely develop an infection at your surgery site.”

My understanding from his answer is that if you have a common cough / cold it’s not ideal but you should be fine. If you have a fever the chances of your op being cancelled are higher.

In my opinion it would seem unfair to be charged to reschedule the appointment due to a problem beyond your control but that said, it’s not MYA’s problem…

Sorry not to have a definitive answer. Perhaps it’s worth speaking with your PC and getting her answer in writing.

The rescheduling charge also varies depending how near to your op you are. Rescheduling 15 days before prior to the op is £150, within 7-14 days is £500 and within 6 days is £1000. These are applied at MYA’a discretion.

    Xx

That’s okay. Out of interest what is the policy re. cancellations / postponing due to illness? Xx

Olivia said that if it is out of your control so if you get the flu or a cold then you would just need to get a letter from your GP and MYA would just reschedule without any extra charge or loss of deposit but if you just wanted to change the date of surgery to suit you or if you fell pregnant, something that you have control of then you would lose your deposit I think and there would be a charge xx
