Hi girlies!! I am very interested in going with MYA for my BA but I have a few concerns! Firstly, only my mom knows about my procedure and she wants to keep it a secret from my dad (he is very traditional and would never allow me to have this done!) But I am concerned that I am going to be in so much pain that he will notice something is wrong while I am recovering. Has anyone been able to hide the procedure from family members?

I am also really worried about the pain and recovery because I am generally a very weak person and when I get ill, I get really ill!! Does anyone on here have a weak immune system that could share their recovery process please? And as a general question how long were you girlies bed bound for? X

Hi Courtney, in all honesty I’m not so sure that you would be able to hide it from your dad. My immediate family were all aware that I was getting the procedure done, however I was very conscious of them knowing how much pain I was in – especially my dad. As far as he is concerned, it was my choice to get this done, so I shouldn’t be complaining about the pain and discomfort that I’m in. So far I have absolutely sucked at keeping it quiet! It’s not just the pain that you need to think about either, I’m holding myself differently, walking at a slower pace – there is a lot he could pick up on. My BA was last Thursday and I’m still struggling to do anything normally. Maybe it’s worth talking to your dad about it, surely he’d be more unhappy finding out you’d gone ahead with the procedure without telling him?

I contracted Glandular Fever this time last year, and my immune system took a massive hit. I was ill constantly throughout 2016, and I’m only just feeling recovered. I’m in quite a bit of discomfort, but painkillers and ice packs are helping. I’m very achey, feel quite weak, and I’m exhausted! Constantly feeling like I need a nap. It’s early days, I’m just making sure I’m drinking plenty and eating lots of proteins & veg to aid in recovery.

I hope this helps in some way, feel free to message me if you have any other questions. Good luck! xxx

Thank you so much!! This really has helped! I actually had glandular fever last summer as well which is why my immune system is still poor! I’ll definitely consider telling my dad, just worried for how he is going to take it! I hope your recovery improves hun! XXXX

Hey honey! My mum knows, it will be her and my father paying for the surgery. Mums known since a little girl that I was unhappy with my boobs. My partner knows that I’d like them done. My best friend knows and so does my partner that I’d like them done. I’ve not mentioned it to him in a while as he’s working away, but when I see him on Friday I’m gonna show him MYA and tell him all about!

I was very worried about telling people i still haven’t told my mum and dad or grandad as it has not been the correct time, my partner knows and has been very supportive. I told my auntie who i am really close to she more or less brought me up with my grandad. She didn’t say much at first as she was worried as its more operations (ive had 5 lots of surgery for medical reasons) but she understands why i want it doing. I am telling the rest in the next couple of weeks. X
