Has anyone had revision surgery due to them dropping too much?
I had 615cc in Dec of last year and I loved them at first then at my 6 weeks check up, I noticed that they had dropped considerably and now 12 months on, they look even worse.
I have been back several times over the year to discuss my concerns with my surgeon only for him to dismiss them every time apart from last time when he agreed to do revision on one of my scars.
This is and never has been the issue, I knew that having large implants that there is a risk of them sagging but to say after only 12 months they are virtually on my belly is not good. I have been back to Mya again today for my pre op for scar revision but it was only when the nurse took more pics that I realised how awful they looked, I could have cried there and then. I asked for a 2nd opinion only to be told that I have to put it in writing and send to head office who will look at my case. I feel that depressed to see how they look after only 12 months and I also wear a bra 24 hours a day and I have really looked after to them.
Has anyone been through anything similar to this as I would really appreciate any advice and I have already wrote my letter ready to post first thing tomorrow xx
Aw hun I’m. Sorry to hear this. Have you had overs or under? Hopefully they will do something to help you as you clearly aren’t happy and you should be. Wat were your stats before op? Xxx
I had partials hun and my stats were 34b 9st 7lb and 5ft 6ins, can’t believe how much they have dropped in 12 months xx
Hey hun sorry to hear this , hopefully you can get it sorted ! Have you see a. Few surgeons to get other advice ? Did you get told this could be a risk of happening before hand ? Xxx
The only thing my surgeon told me was that I would probably need an uplift 10-15 years down the line which was fine but not after 12 months. I have asked for a 2nd opinion through Mya which I have to put in writing to head office but I’m going to book myself in with other surgeons and see what they say xx
Yeah defiantly ! Did you have over it’s unders ? Yeah make sure you really argue your case babe. Have you got any pictures you have put on ? I’ve added you xx
I had partials and I haven’t put any recent ones on here because of how they look. I will definitely argue my case cuz you don’t expect this afternoon 12 months xx
Oh I’m shocked they have dropped so much with partials. Maybe the implant was too heavy then. Have you wore your sports bras religiously? I’m terrified of them dropping too much 🙁 xxx
Hey huni with parts they are still at risk of sagging as with parts the only half way under the muscle at the top and come over the muscle at the bottom I really do think they where too big for you and to fix this you you will need full uplift and smaller implants and placed fully under the muscle this as the muscle is ex support on the implants many girls get unders mixed up with parts that half n half I’ve had 2 revision surgrey over the last 3 years and my last one was 4weeks ago x
(Overs ) implant placement over the muscle in the sub-glandular position, completely in contact with the breast tissue. The result of implants over the muscle provides a round augmented look in many patients, but many women prefer the round and somewhat less natural look. In the “over” approach the implants are inside the breast. Advantages are ease of the surgery, which can be accomplished by almost any surgeon, avoidance of mastopexy in mild ptosis (although it usually makes the ptosis worse later), less post-op discomfort, since only skin and fat are cut. This approach allows insertion of oversize implants, which is again what some women want. Disadvantages are marked interference with mammograms (about 40% obstruction – see reference below), clear visibility and feel of implant edges, visible and palpable rippling of the skin over the implants, especially with any textured implants, higher rate of capsule contracture, high rate of later implant downward migration or “bottoming-out”, and difficulty correcting later posts problems when they occur. For the above reasons I seldom recommend implants over the muscle anymore.
(Parts )partial submuscular implant coverage with implants placed under the muscle via either an areola (nipple) incision or an inframammary crease incision, thus disrupting the muscle support fascia at the lower pole of the implant to allow it to enter the space under the muscle. With this approach the implants are mostly behind the breast. This approach has the Advantages of mostly separating the implants from the muscle, facilitating unobstructed mammography, a more natural look with a soft transition from the flat of the upper chest wall to the round shape of the implant, much less visibility and feel of the implant edges, usually no rippling (except textured implants), and low risk of capsule contracture, as long as the implants have not been contaminated by ductal germs while being passed through the breast tissues. Disadvantages include a bit more discomfort early post-op, technique a bit more difficult than over the muscle, and the loss of the lower pole support fascia which leave the implants supported by the same weak skin tissues as implants over the muscle, leading to later downward bottoming-out of the implants in a few patients as is frequently seen in implants over the muscle.
(Unders )Complete implant muscle coverage is shown at left with intact muscle fascia supporting the lower pole of the implant. This support fascia is the extension of the muscle envelope from the pectoralis muscles to the abdominal rectus muscles, and the finger shaped serratus anterior muscles to the sides, and is a stout collagen sheet which stretches slowly after implant placement, but provides reliable long-term internal bra-like support to prevent “bottoming-out”. With this approach the implants are totally behind the breast. Complete muscle coverage of the implant, without cutting through the muscles, can only be achieved by trans-axillary approach, entering the space under the muscle where it lies closest to the skin in the anterior axillary fold. The Advantages of this approach are ease of placement, natural breast shape no implant visibility, no rippling of the implant surface (except textured implants in thin women), lower capsule contracture risk, since the breasts are completely separated from the implant, and no ducts with germs are damaged while placing the implants, low mammography interference, good internal support, and no scars on the breast. Disadvantages are the difficulty mastering the procedure, thus it is not available from all surgeons, muscle discomfort post-op, and implants which tend early to be a bit full superiorly, until the support fascia stretches. This is my preferred technique for the majority of patients.
I’ve worn a bra / sport’s bra 24 hours a day and I knew there was a risk of sagging but not after 12 months, my surgeon advised that I would probably need an uplift 10-15 years down the line which you would expect.
I’ve been complaining since my 6 weeks check up and every time my claims were dismissed and was told they were fine but they are clearly not as 12 months down the line, they are as saggy but only way bigger than before my ba.
Just gotta wait now for head office to approve my 2nd opinion which I think is ridiculous but going to see other surgeons at different companies and see what they say as I shouldn’t feel embarrassed to get undressed in front of my hubby this early on xx
This happened to my friend they done something to the scar and she is now happy. Hope your happy with your end result xxx
I just think your surgeon has missed judged your breast skin if anything he should have put smaller implants and placed them fully under your muscle x
They are supposed to know best but to say I’m disappointed is an understatement, I would never have bothered having them done if I knew they would look this bad 12 months down the line xx
I agree with huni my 1st op 385/415cc on a full uplift was a bad job take a look at my pics and see I was unhappy 1st he didn’t take the right amount of skin off or he should have put bigger implAnts in to fill the rest of my skin out was told there was ok had re op no2 he didn’t do wot he should have done a year on I went to see anther surgeon and he said I need anether uplift and bring the implants to over the muscle this time I didn’t want the full uplift again too much pain and just about got over my scarring so he said he would 590cc and nipple lift to right and now happy now it’s took me 3op and 3 years to hear if u not happy put your foot down and ask to see a different surgeon whith inn Mya as this your right to so
That’s what i intend to do hun, I can’t just accept that this is what I paid for and I’m not going to let it go. I know they are not going to perfect but I just want them to look at least half decent xx
Hey chick end of the day it’s not wot u asked for its not like a car that you can take bk and change it if it wasn’t right this is more important it’s stuck n your body and now this has coursed more problems wear you need an uplift now I’m feeling for you xx
So after phoning Mya this morning to cancel the revision scar surgery and told them why, my pc rang me to say that she had spoken to my surgeon and head office and they have arranged for me to see another surgeon on 13th Jan so didn’t need to post that letter first thing this morning, got to say I’m over the moon that it has been arranged so quickly and with no hassle.
My only worry is that due to the other surgeon working for the same company, will I get honest answers???
I think I’m still going to book in with other companies just to get some more advice
Ah hope you gets sorted hun.xx keep on at them this shouldn’t happen after 12months agree with Alex.xx
Aww sorry to hear this hun! Who was your original surgeon and who have they booked you in with to see in jan? I hope they sort IT for you xx
Sarah, I am currently going through a similar situation. Six months PO had consultation with my surgeon as they are saggy and I have various other issues all because of the excess skin I now have. My surgeon had advised me last month I need revision surgery but it can’t go ahead because it says in my notes that I declined or refused an uplift at my initial consultation. That information is wrong though as I never declined or refused 🙁 xx
Hi Clairabell, before I had my initial consultation with the surgeon both myself and hubby agreed that if he said an uplift was needed then we would walk away as I didn’t want to go down that road. The surgeon said he could do an uplift on my own or give me a bigger implant that would do the job without an uplift so we went with that however he did say I would probably need one 10-15 years down the line.
However after several trips to see the surgeon regarding various problems, he did say that an uplift was mentioned in the first consultation but my hubby was with me and was very quick correcting him on what was actually said and the surgeon said nothing, also my pc was going there so I hope to God for their sakes, that they do not try and use this excuse on me as I know exactly what was said and so does my hubby and I wouldn’t leave it at that.
Hope you get sorted hun and please keep me posted of any progress you make as it sounds like we are going through the same xx
Hi hun looking at ur pre op pic.. even though its not what u wanted he should have said to have the lift deffo not bigger implants.. bigger implants just sag quicker making the problem worse its a very short term fix.. keep on at them they should do something about it hun x
Hi Missy, if he had said uplift then I would have just walked away and made the most of what I had but unfortunately now it’s looks like I have no choice but to go down that road which has made me very angry as the decision has been took out of my hands. All I can do now is wait and see what the 2nd surgeon says but I am so annoyed and angry that I will be looking at taking it further xx
Yea sure hun u would have been better off walking away than having this problem i totally understand as before i got mine i was worried mine were saggy and i said the same if i needed a lift i probably wouldnt do it.. turned out mine were just empty tho.. when i chose my size my surgeon said i promise u will be back in 5-10 yrs for a uplift because i was going for a large implant.. i dont blame u for being angry hun ur forced in to having what u didnt want now.. deffo go to other surgeons outside of mya and get their opinion i would also show them pre op pics see if they would have said to have an uplift or not.. hopefully u will get this sorted x
I got told straight off the bat that I needed uplift and that’s wot did it’s was the word of the other two surgens with my company who said I needed the revision ops and they email my old surgeon and the 1st re op I didn’t get to see my old dr till the morning of my op and he’s was being a bit funny with me so 2re op I was happy that was able to change my surgeon to the new one I couldn’t be more happier x good that u can see some1 New I think that’s so much better for you x
My only worry is about the 2nd opinion is with another surgeon who works for the same company, is he really going to give his own opinion or just agree with my original surgeon?
I’ve booked in with 2 other surgeons from different companies and going to show them my pics and see what they say xx
I’m sure u will be better off with seeing anther one chick it worked better for me xx
Hey sarah I agree with Alex with the fact that they gave you such a big implant and it should of gone under the muscle really ! I got told all of this in my first consultation about big implants sagging etc.. They should no by looking at them that they have sagged and should offer revision so I’m shocked they haven’t . Where abouts is your clinic ? Xx
I’ve uploaded a new pic so you can see what I was talking about Sarah, have a look 🙂 xx
Hi clairabell just had look at your pics hope u don’t mind so wots going on with your sugroen have you been back to see them ? Xxx
Hi Alex, yeah I saw surgeon in November and we discussed the problems I’ve had for a while that have only gotten worse, he told me that I need an uplift as he thought the implant would move down behind the skin lifting my nipples but instead they have just been pulled down. When I had my initial consultation he advised I would need an uplift if I had 300-350cc, I asked him for 650cc and he said if he lowered the crease then I probably wouldn’t need a lift but if I did it would be a crescent lift, I told him that it would be a decision I would leave to him. When I went into theatre I didn’t know if I would be having a lift or not, he didn’t think I needed it so didn’t do it. Now I have a lot of excess skin, rippling in really bad but I accepted that risk, my Inplants move outwards and fall into my armpits which causes me pain, all due to the excess skin. I do not blame my surgeon for this happening not by any means as it wasn’t predicted, however as someone wrote in my notes that I had declined or rejected an uplift (which I didnt) revision surgery was rejected :'( could honestly cry (and have) xx
Hi clara thats really bad, I would say to you fight your case and dont give up hun. At the end of the day you have paid so much and deserve to be happy and MYA should be willing to do all they can to help you out. Your surgeon shouldnt have done the op if this could have happened and you should have been told about this beforehand xxx
Clairabell, mine look exactly the same as yours. Ok in a bra but when in shower they are on my belly. The rippling has got worse and worse and they move all over the place. I hope we both get sorted out as I can’t bear looking at them xxx
It’s sounds like to me that they are covering there backs with this and it’s not on did u singh anything ? That’s not fair at all its a joke have you put in a complaint yet ? I don’t get wot the problem is on the re op as they are covered For these things I’ve got a got a friend from the bar I use to work with af I had my 1st op she got bit jel and rushed out to get her done with my old sugroen and he told her she needed a lift and she kicked it back because she didn’t want to pay ex and I told her the risk so anyway she’s put a lot of wieght on now and she’s kicking off that they have gone saggy and went to the surgon and he took a look and said she had CC and that he needed to replace her implants then she told him she had lump and she was going to get check out with a scan so off she went had this scan and they told her ther was nothing to worry and there was no CC around her implants so she phoned up to sort out a date for the op and wanted to know the results and the PC told her that there isn’t anything wrong with them and now she kicking off demanding a re op when there’s nothing wrong with implants but makes me mad seeing you girls upset about something that the your sugroens have missed judge x
I didn’t sign anything where I refused an uplift as that was not the case and I will take it a lot bloody further if they try and use that on me xxx
I didn’t sign anything either, yes Alex I’ve wrote to them explaining that they have based their decision on information which isn’t correct and that if they ask my surgeon he will back up what was discussed etc, I didn’t want to post anything about it as I don’t want to be negative about the situation or to put anyone off as I know it doesn’t happen to everyone, but I waited a very long time to save the money to finally have surgery and it’s gone wrong and needs correcting :'( I don’t have the money to save again. Feeling really down 🙁 sorry for complaining on your post Sarah, I hope you get sorted out soon xx
No worries hun, hopefully we will both get sorted, keep me posted hun xx
I’m with you all the way girls and know how u are feeling had 3years of this but the end of the day maybe other lady’s need to know wot there getting in to this real life stuff on cash side yes of course it’s a lot of money and Hard working money too just stand your grounds girls and if push comes to it and they won’t sort things out go in see a solicitor fingers crossed for you both but I’m sure Mya will sort it out x
Well I’ve had my 2nd opinion and guess what? my notes state that I declined an uplift and it’s all lies as I did not refuse an uplift. What do I do now as this seems to be happening quite alot when you experience problems. Your notes saying different to what was actually said Xx
Just a matter of time now before this post is removed
any of you girls got any updates on whats happened since? xx
I haven’t heard nothing from Mya so going to take it further. My pc hasn’t even returned my calls. Complete waste of space and once they have your money, they don’t want to know. Make your self amazing is their motto. What a bloody joke xx
