rhinoplasty booked with dr gonschior

Heya i’m having rhinoplasty on the 29th may with dr gonschior.. just wondering if anyone else has had him. He seems lovely i’m just a little worried about the result but soo excited! xxx

I’m having open septo rhino! Bit of a mouthful ha ha. I have my pre op assessment on Thursday.. I’m so excited can’t wait. I thought dr G was really nice and reassuring he talked me through the whole process and told me what to expect afterwards e.g swelling and bruising. I would have gone for a second consultation but live too far but pretty sure I want to go with him! Our op dates are pretty close to each other jennie.. Do you want much done to it?

My PC has said that she thinks I need open rhinoplasty – I’ve got my consultation with Dr G on Wednesday so am excited to hear what he says. I have got a large bump/hook at the top of my nose that I want shaving off and just want my nose to be slightly smaller and softer overall. I’m travelling from Bolton to see him in Birmingham so can only really justify one consultation, if I’ve got any doubts though then I’ll defo go see him again. Did you meet with other surgeons or companies?

I had open septo rhino. I’m on day 4 of recovery now and its getting better with each day. First couple of days are weird and uncomfortable but you never feel like you think you should after surgery so don’t worry about that.

Just excited/nervous to get the cast off! Eeek. Let us know how your consultations are!

So, I had my consultation with Dr G today – was quite nervous about it but he spent loads of time with me and listened to everything I had to say and answered all my questions. Only thing is though my rhinoplasty is going to be more complex than my PC originally predicted and it’s gone from open rhino to open septo rhino and gone up by £600! Ouch! He also said that he thinks that because of the tip of my nose is quite soft then I may need a graft to ‘harden’ it up so it doesn’t droop slightly as a result of the surgery. Has anyone else had this?

He asked loads of questions about what sort of tip I wanted which I hadn’t really given much thought to as my main concentration was on getting the bump removed and just having my whole nose generally smaller so I’m going to have to do some homework and get checking out some more noses!

I thought it was interesting what he said about not needing to bother taking arnica tablets as they have an adverse effect during surgery so that’s some money saved! He also said I can drive after 24hours. I still think I’ll wait for a good 4-5 days though.

Time to book trains and hotel, Eeek! Has anyone got any hotel recommendations for Highgate? X

Hey Hun my pc told me I would only be having open rhino but after my consultation with the surgeon he told me I needed open septo. He told me that the tip of my nose was too soft as well and to stop it from drooping i may need a graft. How do you feel about this? I still want to look like myself just worried ill look completely different lol. I haven’t booked a hotel yet but will be booking end of next week I think. 5 weeks left seems ages away lol x

I don’t think I’ve had time to take it in yet – to be honest, I hadn’t even really thought about the tip and when he threw it in about the graft it kinda threw me! End of the day, I defo don’t want my nose to droop so if he thinks I need it done then I’ll have it done but he did say he won’t know for definite until he’s actually ‘in there’ but my PC called me after the appointment to say that there would be a £600 increase which I don’t understand why I should have to pay yet as it’s not not definite that he has to do it. What have you been told you have to pay?

The pay increase will probably because your septum is being worked on now I was originally quoted £5000 to £5500 for just open rhino but then it went up to £6200 for open septo but I got discount because I paid in full within a certain date x

I asked my PC yesterday if I was eligible for discount as I’ll be paying the full balance in full and she said they only tend to offer it to those who are late bookings. I actually had a consultation with Transform and the price they quoted me was £3800. I know I want to go with Mr Gonschoir because he is the best but it is a massive difference! x

Ohh maybe they used to offer it then but don’t anymore but I didn’t ask my pc she just offered it to me
When I found out my op was going to cost 6 grand I did think it was expensive but then I thought I really liked Mr Gonschior and I’ve seen so many good reviews so I knew I wanted to go with him! I thought this is my face and I want one of the best surgeons to do it so I didn’t care about the price, but then top surgeons will charge a lot more money than others won’t they x

I’m the same with what I think about Mr Gonschoir – I know he’s the best and it’s obviously not something I want to pay out for twice but I am surprised at the leap in cost. I will ask again about the discount but I’m not holding out much hope! X

My pc rang me and told me about the increase in price too it was also £600 more I’m now paying £6050. I don’t mind paying the extra as I do think my tip needs work now. Not sure why he told you it wasn’t definite, I would double check about the payment just in case he changes his mind about your tip. I’m booked in for the 29th may can’t wait. I had my pre op today still need to go through everything the nurse gave me as it’s a lot of info to take in! Xx

I checked with my PC today about it not being 100% about me needing my tip doing and she said I’ll need to pay the £600 extra regardless and if he decides during surgery that I don’t need it doing then I’ll get it refunded.

How was your pre op? My next step is getting mine booked in! X

Aw that’s good news as long as your guaranteed a refund if the surgeon decides not to do your tip. Pre op was good the nurse took some bloods and checked height/weight etc, took some pics and went through information about the op which I need to read. Just want it to hurry up now! X

I’m having a graft on my nose on the 1st May, he uses them in about a third of his surgeries and its becoming a well known technique in order to create certain shapes for your nose. Just reading and everyones pre-op sounds completely different to mine, I didnt get any information to take with me and read, just asked some questions took pictures and swabs and that was it. No bloods or height or weight check, is that normal? I was also quoted 5550 and then 6050 for open rhino with a graft as it takes slightly longer in surgery x x

Im not sure why they didn’t check your height weight or take any bloods.. Have they asked you to go back a different day. Also what surgery did you go to? See if you can find out if it’s necessary for you to hve a blood test etc. xx

No that was my pre-op the next time I see the nurse is to have my stitches out. I’m having Dr G and everyone else I know who has had him has said they had bloods taken. I’m going to ring up tomorrow I think and find out, just don’t want to get there and they say they won’t operate because they don’t have what they need. x x

I had my pre op this evening and the nurse said at first that she wouldn’t need to take my bloods but I questioned it and she checked my notes again and DR G had specified that I needed to have them taken. She did say that not everyone needs to have bloods taken at their pre-ops, it goes off your medical notes apparently. X

I have read some pretty nasty reviews about him on google. probably shouldnt have done that i know, I have my consultation with him on Friday, and i was just wondering if you girls are happy with your results and if you would recomened him? xxx

my god is that how much its gone up? I had everything done including a graft to make my tip into a nice shape and paid 4500 xx

Rinx, When i went and saw my PC she said that she thinks it would be closed and quoted Day case 4250 so its pretty expensive xxx
