Sad and confused

Hi guys,

So my blood test from pre op came back to tell me im severely anaemic and my surgery would have to be postponed. I kicked up a little fuss over it as i need the surgery date I originally had as I go to uni and need surgery before I move away. They have agreed to keep my date for now, and in 2 weeks I need a blood test locally to see if my iron levels have gone up. Ive been to the docs and got the strongest iron tablets but Im so scared that they wont go up enough.

I dont really know what ive made this post for but I dont know if Im coming or going, I cant get exited counting down the days or prepping when, in two weeks, they could tell me my surgery has been cancelled. 🙁

There was another girl with the same situation a few weeks ago – try searching for it on the forum as I think she got her op date moved and all going to plan x

I’m really sorry to hear that and I hope you get the go ahead!
Just one little tip, vitamin c increased absorption of iron by up to 5 x. So maybe consider washing your iron tablets down with a glass of orange juice or something 🙂 x

In addition to taking iron tablets make sure your eating foods which are high in iron – have a Google of that phrase for suggestions.
Don’t worry yourself too much about it, results can be affected my numerous things so they might have just caught you on a bad day. Hopefully with the tabs and iron rich foods you’ll be given the a-okay for the op 🙂 Xx
