    Hi all,
Just wondered if any of you have been on medication during the time you had your op, and whether it’s safe? I’m having rhino with Dr G two weeks today and have been taking low (50mg) daily Sertraline pills for anxiety for the last 4 months. Gonna ask the nurse on my pre-op on Fri but just thought I’d ask if any of you have experience of whether it’s safe to continue taking it during op?
Thanks ladies! Hope you’re all keeping warm in this crap weather! S xx

I am on a medium dose of seroxat and have been for years. It was no problem at all. The only concerns are drugs that thi Youngblood or are to do with the heart and lung operations. As a word of advice, if you are on them for anxiety as opposed to depression ( like me) just be prepared for it kicking in a bit as you will get anxious about the op. they gave me some diazepam to calm down and have taken a small dose post op just so I can rest. I promise it won’t be a problem. Lots of other girls on here have said the same. Hope that makes you feel a bit better. Add me if you want to private message. Xxx

Hi hun I was taking 50mg of Sertraline right up until the night b4 my op! You can’t take it on the day you have your op but can continue after the nurses do all your obs! As long as everything is ok that is! If your PC doesn’t know about this you need to tell them as you will need to get a letter from your GP confirming your not suffering from Body Dismorphia xxx

Thanks very much for all your advice guys! 🙂
Hi Janet, yeah I’m on Setraline for anxiety and mild OCD. I reckon I’m going to be really anxious on the day but I really want this done! Just keep panicking worrying about getting a bad result and regretting it… but I’ve thought about it for so long and done loads of research, had 4 consultations. Just need to bite the bullet and do it!
Hey Becky, I’m having the op with Dr G privately rather than through MYA, simply cos I didn’t realise he worked for MYA too before I booked my consult. So I don’t have a PC, but I’ll e-mail Dr G’s PA and ask her if I need to get a letter from GP. Thanks for posting, hadn’t thought of needing to do that! xx
