Can anybody please tell me how you self measure if you have done so? How to work out your measurements to work out your bra size please… I have googled it but I hope to God that was not right otherwise I’m going to crawl into a hole!!! 🙁
Measure your chest first for band size. . If your are an even number as 4 if it’s an odd number add 5 – for example I’m a 29 so I add 5 makes me a 34.
Next measure your bust at the fullest part with the tape straight across your back. Round to nearest inch. The difference between band and bust in inches is Cup side. I.e band 34 bust 35 -A cup. Band 34 bust 36 -B cup, band 34 bust 38 – C cup…and so on and so forth.
Hope this helps Hun xxx
That would make me a 34B I just want to cry, my surgeon said that the implants I have he believes would make me a 34D… I’m just gonna go get measure properly in a shop fingers crossed… I’m really trying to stay positive lol thank you Hun xxx
Hey, I tried self measuring as well and I ended up miles off!! I think I measured as something ridiculous like a 34A!!! When I went and got measured I’m measuring as a 30DD… so I really wouldn’t worry about it too much! Also there’s no way your surgeon would get it that wrong, if anything be prepared to be bigger than expected x
Go onto facebook boob or bust page. The add 4 method is very outdated and they have a calculator for more accurate measurement hth x
They say to wait until 6 weeks for measuring I think or are you going to a shop today to reassure you? Hear bravissimo, Debenhams and John Lewis best. Avoid m and a and Victoria secret heard bad measuring reviews x
M & s
Babe I wouldn’t self-measure. Some girls get it completely wrong and wearing the wrong bra size can mess around with your implants. Measuring your band is okay but I always wore 34 and I should have been wearing a 30/32 at least. As for cups, I left that for the experts. Debenhams is so good but 6 weeks wait is long I know but worth it as you want the full feel and look of your new boobs. No harm in trying on bras in DD+ and seeing what is comfortable but a proper measurement is useful and needed. Xx
Lorna’s way of adding doesn’t seem right as I got measured at 29.5 and told I should wear 30/32. If you’re a size 12 in clothes you wouldn’t wear a size 16 would you? You’d wear a 10/12. Your band is measured under your breasts. Bust can be tricky so I left it to the experts. Don’t always listen to Google and certainly do not add 5! X
Looking at your profile picture I can tell you are most certainly NOT a B!! no way!!
your back may be smaller than you expect. Its happened to a lot of us and your cups will be over a D most definitely. Let us know how you get on. They will know how the bra should fit your boobs too. I had some where my nipples were hanging out lol try a couple of places as every bra shop is different. I got 375/400cc overs and measure at an E/F. You’re way over a B hun. Xx
Hi Lauren, I had my bust measurement in M&S the other day and thats what the lady who measured me told me to work it out on… So thats just the advice I was given xxx
@missestelle See I found M&S USELESS as they were putting me into F and G bras and didn’t even use a measuring tape. I told them I was a 32 as that was what Debenhams measured me as. M&S are useless 🙁 Shame really. A lady in Boux Avenue put a 32 and 34 on me and showed me the difference in where the band was at the back and the 34 was riding up whilst the 32 was dead straight and comfortable. That’s why I advise a few places to get measured but never would I do it myself. X
There are so many ways of self measuring and I’ve found that none of them are accurate. My underbust measurement is 28″ and my band has been officially measured as a 30/32 depending on shop. When I had my underbust measured they took one comfortable measurement and then one really tight measurement to determine my band size.
The reason different shops have different measurements methods is because this is how their bras fit so just because one store offers something different to other stores doesn’t make the size incorrect. Xx
Okay thank you lauren! I’m only 2wPo so have another long 4 weeks to make 🙁 I’ve heard Debenhams are really good!! Also friends of mine have recommended m&s to me but I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews on here. Ann summers and la Senza have had mixed reviews too. I think il definitely go to Debenhams, la Senza and try Ann summers as they’ve got some sexy bras haha xxx
@nikitta95 they do, Ann Summers are so nice. Just tricky to find big cups with a small back! 🙁 I wouldn’t advise going up a back size and down a cup either. I’m a 32E and she advised 34DD if I found it tricky. Worst thing I ever did. Horrible!!!!!! Stick to your size haha.
@icrlm Imogen you’re right. Your pre-op and post-op are identical to mine really. I was measured 29.5 and put into 30/32 but 30 is way too tight but F cups fit! and 32E is perfect and comfortable! Yours look amazing. You were 3 days before me so we’re at the same stage!!!! 😀 x
@laurenamb Thanks. I had unders and I’m secretly hoping for a bit of definition between my boobs as they soften as at the moment when wearing a bra it looks like the bra has gobbled them up! Lol. Here they are in a VS 32E (not the best picture quality).
@icrlm Oh that’s so pretty. I tried getting one like that in VS but had no luck! 32DDD doesn’t have much option. The pinky one with the black VS’s in my photo was the most comfy I got 🙁
Others are Debenhams. Check them out!!! So nice and comfortable. And my boobs just sit there. They’re not pushed up or anything. Plunge and balcony are best!
I used this website to get a rough idea. http://www.boobydoo.co.uk/bra-size-calculator
It put me as a 34F and when I was measured professionally I came out at a 32F so was really close for me. Make sure that you still get measured professionally, the result should give you a rough idea anyway X
Bravissimo, M&S, and Debenhams are super helpful with measurements. I had been self-measuring and winging it and was so far off in my bra size. And, at least at Bravissimo, the sales assistant will then bring you a huge range of bras that will fit/suit you. Don’t forget – you may be vastly different sizes depending on the brand! Good luck and have fun buying all the bras 🙂
