Showers or baths?

HI Girls
I have my BA due on Wednesday in London with Dr Adamo – cant wait, and have found all your storeis really helpful. Could you explain to me about bathing? showering afterwards – I have read that some of you fell smelly etc. how long before a proper shower? and are your bandages on 24.7 and for how long? (sorry for all the questions!)

i prefer showers, but since my ba ive only been able to have baths! this is because after ur op you have big steri-strips thingys on ur incisions and u cant get them wet. u wont be getting them changed until ur 2 week post op check up! i didnt have my first bath until i was 4 days post op because i was sore and tight, but man did i feel soooooo dirty lol! and even then my mum had to wash my hair for me because u cant lift ur arms up for a bout a week. even now i still cant lift them up fully and im 10 days post op!

oh no? – I am a shower person too. did you have overs or unders as I hear unders are more painful – consultant has told me to have overs, 10days is a long time to not lift your arms isnt it! I will have to stock up on the baby wipes then.lol!
I have my post op 6 days after? Guess it is different for different people.

You can have a shallow baths the week after until your strapping comes off just dont get the stapping wet. Then you can go back to showers. My pc told me no long baths until after 6weeks as the scars are still healing. In fact she said showers are better cos the scars arent gettting as much water on them as in a bath.x

6 weeks – I never thought of that – showers would be better wouldnt they- thanks for the advice. would suit me better too. 1 week of shallow baths doesnt sound too bad. x

hey, i had a choice of overs or unders, but overs seemed the best choice
hopefully only a few more days of shallow baths and ill be back in the shower! lol my post op is this weds phewww!
i can lift my arms, just not fully! but enough to shave now atleast! thank god haha

So you can start having showers after 2 weeks?? fantastic! Really worried about how I am going to wash my hair though, it’ nearly down to my bum, and I wash my hair every other day!!

I had a shower on the 6th day afterwards once my dressings were removed. my boyfriend washed my hair over the bath for me for the first week!

I shower twice a day and wash my hair daily. Days 1-3 I was able to still shower my bottom half then I Got help washing my hair over the bath and baby wiped my under arms. About day for 4 I was able to wash my own hair over the bath and now day 8 im having a full shower without standing fully under the water so that my strips stay dry. Everones different it just depends how much pain your in etc. Also I had overs.
