Sickness :( :(

Hi girls,
I was given paracetamol and codeine to take as my pain meds. The paracetamol is fine but omg the codeine makes me feel so sick 🙁 :(. I am literally throwing up half an hour after I take it 🙁
Did anyone take any other pain killers after their op? Is it safe to take ibuprofen?

I took sopadol a little while ago that has that in and I was sick everywhere, felt drunk, was falling into walls, barely remember it! Really bad! Looks like you can’t take them! Call the nurse and see if they can prescribe you with anything else. Quite a lot of people feel like this after taking it.. Have you been eating properly?

Stop taking the codeine replace it with I ibu ! But ring the nurse as well xxx

Thanks girls! Yes, I totally get that drunk feeling haha! An yeah, I have been eating okay but then I panic coz I don’t wana eat too much just to vom again, urgh!
I will see if I can swap it for ibuprofen! Xx

I think part of it was not eating enough 🙁 But I took them before and had the same reaction.. So if you feel better not taking it.. no brainer 🙂 Really hope you feel better. Know exactly how you are feeling on them! xxx

Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory it won’t replace codeine as a pain releif as such. If ur not tolerating codeine id ask if they will prescribe u some tramadol or get ur GP to. They r stronger than codeine but u might just hav an intolerance to codeine not that fact that there strong, I’d take 1 of tramadol as they r strong!
I’m taking both, para/codeine and tramadol As I’m used to taking analgesia. I told the nurse after surgery that I would be taking tramadol aswell and she said good! As it works really well with paracetamol, but they just don’t give u It as a take home analgeisa! I work in a hospital so I have perks ha, so maybe get r GP to write u a prescription xx

Hi hun i know exactly how u feel i was given cocodamol which made me feel very sick but also (excuse me) constipated really badly and swollen tummy it was awful. So the nurse said i can use iboprufen so what im doing today is taking paraceetomol and iboprufen but strong ones then hopefully that should make things a lot better. Its not absolute strict guidelines anyway in regards to pills its just when u need them take them sort of thing. As long as u dont mix too many together xx

I havent taken any codiene today and i’m feeling much better! Yasmin -i have deffo been constipated haha, but i have been taking Jayde’s advice of drinking lovely prune juice (yum :/). I am going to see how i go with just paracetamol as i am not in too much pain, just very very brusied and swollen on my right side!

If ur not in much pain I’d stick with the paras and Ibruf then! I’m totally opposite I’m just a soft arse ha. And prune juice haha works wonders doesn’t it but boy is it discusting xx

Codien (codraymol) contains paracetamol in it already so if your taking paracetamol you will be taking tRiple the dosage and will feel sick
You shouldn’t mix both if your having extreme pain take the Codien on its own or if not just take paracetamol but don’t mix them
Codien makes you drowsy but that’s the point so you feel breezed out as your in pain lol
Most likely you are feeling sick is because your mixing both and you should drink plenty fluids and food don’t take your meds without eating if your not doin so x

Codeine doesn’t contain paracetamol, codeine is codeine. It getting mixed up with co codomol, which contains both. Xx
