Signs of infection.

If anyone’s read my threads before, I’m still battling my superficial open wound on my right breast after my breast reduction. It gets swabbed regularly and has always had no infection. The latest swab was done yesterday and I’ve had some discomfort since and today I don’t feel too well. What are the early signs of infection?

Hey chick ide call the docs and get some tabs to clear it up did u try them dressing I told u about from boots ? Xx

I can’t really pick my dressings because I have to go into the clinic twice a week to get them changed. I won’t know if I have an infection till Monday but I’ve muddled through 8 weeks without one so far so maybe I’m just uncomfortable x
Seriously hoping at my next surgical review he’ll agree to stitch me back together x

Hi, I read your posts about your superficial wound. how is it now is it any better?
Im 6 weeks post op the nurse took swabs last week as one area wasn’t healing and it came back positive. Since taking the anti biotics its healed up really quickly. I didn’t have any signs of infection however I actually had an infection, the nurse said it would be red, swollen and hot. Have they given you anything to speed it up?

I’m still not healing and I’ve never had an infection, new skin just refuses to heal over the area. I’ll be finding out tomorrow if I’ll be operated on or continue with hope and dressings

Yes! My wound revision surgery is next Wednesday and I am so excited x

That’s good. Long awaited surgery, must be frustrating having to wait this long x

It’s been difficult and frustrating but at the same time, I understand why my surgeon wanted to wait and see how my body responded to healing. I’ve been told of how other women have healed from wounds like this, I was just unlucky x

I can imagine, mine was only a small area unlike yours. Hopefully with your revision it will look a lot better when the scar eventually heals compared with how it might have looked if it healed now. Where mine wasn’t healing it’s a bigger and redder scar than the rest now so at least you won’t have this 🙂
