I was told by my nurse at 7 days post op I could lie on my back but still slightly elevated, not upright as I was. I started sleeping on my side at 4.5 weeks xx

Sorry wouldn’t let me edit above! At 7 days po I had my normal 2 pillows, and my v pillow to stop me rolling. It’s much more comfy! Xx

Slept upright for the first 7-8 days, and then slightly elevated until about 16 days post-op which still was uncomfortable for me lol so I just laid down cos I’m sure I’m allowed to now referring to everyone else experiences. And I do turn slightly on my side, when I feel like… This might be something that is not allowed yet, I’m not sure, but it does feel comfortable and I am 19 days post op today. Xx

Hi there, I was experiencing the same nightmare so called MYA. They referred me to the post op notes given before I left, which say to sleep at 45 degrees for a minimum of 2 weeks to help with symmetry. Thereafter you can go on to your back, but you must not sleep on your side until after the all clear at your 6 week appointment. I’ve seen other blogs from girls saying they slept on their side earlier – although they’ve usually moved in their sleep and not done so deliberately – some have been fine, but others said they’ve woken with discomfort/pain and swelling. But I’m sure it will differ depending on the procedure you’ve had, so I’d say be as patient as you possibly can, but ultimately you’ll know if something is wrong cos it will hurt.
