Well I use to smoke about 15 a day I’ve managed to cut down to around 4 (When I wake up, afternoon and before I go sleep are the ones I have to have :/ they will still do my BA won’t they!? Just takes longer heal. I had my last one yesterday and not having any now. xx

It’s not that it takes longer to heal, it’s that it puts you at risk for you NOT healing. It slows blood flow which can cause permenant numbness as the neves don;t regen, it can cause scar infections, pocket infections which means you will have to have an explant and have them re done 3-6months later, it increasess your risk for capsule contracture significantly and due to the dress on the body, the lack of blood flow and nerve damage and it can cause blood flow loss to the nipple, which will result in it turning black and you may then lose them.

I’m trying to scare you girls, I just think you should have all the info, now the above might not happen to you if you do carry on but then again it COULD, it puts your risk of CC from 15% to around 40%, this can occur any time, even years aftre surgery.

Quiting is hard but loosing your breasts is harder imo… you need to stop two weeks prior surgery really but you will still lower your risk if you stop now, next time you want a ciggarette just think of the above, all the stress it will cause not mention any re op you need wont be covered by MYA you would have to pay again as you have been told not to smoke to any damage done will in a Drs eyes be your own doing.

Again, not trying to be mean I just think you should know the risks and know it’s not worth it! Putting your result and health at risk and wasting 1000s of £.

Good luck and you CAN stop hun, just try and think of the end result x

Omg! Why wouldn’t my PC explain how important it is!? All she said is ”we advise you try and stop smoking for your surgery”. That is it, no explanation like you have said @kaydee just that your scar may take a little longer heal.

    My op is tomorrow!!

Not smoking POST OP is the most important thing, so if you stop now you’re giving yourself a good chance. Just start from here on in and if they ask if you had been smoking do be truthful so they know incase it causes any issues during the surgery, if you concentrate on looking forward now you will be fine.

    Congrats on 16days Chanel x

If you can’t stop smoking get the e shisha pen it’s just water vapour your inhaling doesn’t affect you at all well from what’s been studied so far, bought my dad one who smoked 40 cigs a day to practically nothin from day one! Xx
