ive read that you need to be around 2 months smoke free pre op?
Really?
I know its bloody awful habit, but the latest tech in e-cigs work? can ya use them or can ya actually have a crafty one before the op, and theyl still do it?
on my way to quitting, wonder if it will give me the push.
I stopped 2 weeks before but was never really a big smoker- just when I drink (maybe once or twice a week) but then I chain smoke. I’ll probably keep away from them until 2 months post op.
They tell you to stop because it really messes with your healing, it does something to your blood which stops the platelets getting to the wounds and basically sticking them back together. This is particularly relevant for breast wounds for some reason (my aunt just had breast cancer but couldnt stop smoking and she still hasnt healed months and months later). Yes, you will still heal but much slower and are more likely to get an infection. Don’t think you’re allowed the e-cigs either as they contain nicotine.
It’s your body and you can do what you want but trust me it’s the worst feeling in the world when something goes wrong and you will kick yourself and always wonder if you could have prevented it…
xx
I Love this question!! I’ve gone 2 weeks without so far. My op is tomorrow and im craving baadddd now :/
Will defo stay away after hearing that though Daisy xx
Thank girls, really wanna get as much information as I can, and I bloody love smoking, ive been on and off the e-cig, but since sterling brought out fresh burst im hooked again lol. so stick to my e-cig and drag my self off it more towards the op date. im not brilliant when it comes to opertaions anyways so would love to help my body as much as I can, I once read that a average smoker needs twice the vitamin c of a non smoker, so maybe invest in some vitamin c tablets aswell to boost my self back up xx
There’s nothing worse than someone telling you you can’t do something! I’m really craving one now whilst typing this and drinking a cup of coffee.
Ooooo I was planning on taking Vit C too but i completely forgot until you reminded me!
Be brave girls, it will be worth it in the end 🙂

😀 don’t know whats more scary, quitting the surgery or the pain! lol
ive had a bit of google after you mentioned healing in the earlier post and your spot on, its the nicotine, however your intake, it slows the healing process. so yup good luck ladies, bigger boobs AND smoke free. will definalty be feeling like I can accomplish anything afterwards!! 😀 xx
i smoked right up till the day as was a heavy smoker, i had my last fag an hour before my op, but after i couldn’t smoke as chest feels tighter anyway, i’m now almost 3 weeks without a fag, just been smoking an electric fag x
ps i wouldn’t recommend smoking just before op like i did tho, i was just rebelling ha ha x
