Saw my surgeon again yesterday.. My op is 28th November, he recommend I get smooth because apparently they are preferring to use these more now these days and he told me the risks. also I checked the form I signed and it says cohesive l. What does this mean? Also does smooth give you the same look as textured? Thank you!

Any pictures of smooth implant, 425cc, cohesive l appreciated 😊(or roughly around these stats).

Hi Kate! Cohesive l is the type of gel used in the smooth implants. It is the softest gel mentor implants offer. That’s why smooth are the ‘squishiest’ implants, whilst the textured ones have a harder shell. I had round smooth 275cc moderate + in a dual plane incision.

Visually the smooth implants have less fullness and they tend to drop a bit more (maybe by 1cm) and when you lay down go to the sides more than the textured would. The feel of it though is really good.
The main benefit is that the risk of developing the cancer associated to the textured ones is eliminated, however the risk of implant misplacement and capsular contracture is higher (although this risk is reduced if placed under the muscle or dual plane).

Textured ones however are the most used in North America and Europe.

To be honest up until the second before entering surgery room I was in a MASSIVE dilemma as to which to go with (surgeon had ordered both textured and smooth).

Do you have any pictures Maria? Argh only 15 days till my op and I’m super unsure now. Kind of think smooth as I want no chance of cancer, I’m going to 425cc from an a/b cup so hoping they will look nice and round like the ladies I see on here

They will still look nice and round but definitely won’t attach to your body like the textured implants do (hence why a bit less fullness on top and why they’ll move more to the sides especially when laying down…) if you’re looking for natural then I’d say go for smooth! They will look fab regardless of the texture you choose. I now wish I had gone bigger!
