Hi everyone. I’m wondering if anyone can tell me about their experiences/thoughts on smooth or textured implants.
MYA only use the textured ones, and I have had my initial consultation there, but another clinic I went to on Harley Street, London, only uses smooth. I’m torn on trying to decide between which ones.
At The Private Clinic they only use smooth implants and the surgeon told me that’s because they are safer and there’s a less risk with a certain type of cancer – http://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/fda-affirms-breast-implants-can-cause-rare-form-cancer-n736551

But with smooth implants, there’s a higher chance they will flip and move around. Can anyone help? Which are best? xx

    Hi lovely

I go to The Private Clinic, I chose smooth as they are less risky. I read an article the other day in newspaper saying the risk is increasing now with textured implants so that have really put me off!
The risk is low for them to flip and move around as long as you go to a decent place and look after them properly as they will eventually set into their place whilst your healing.
    Hope this helps xx

Thank you! And what about the risk of capsular contraction? Were you told that’s higher with smooth?xx

My surgeon at TPC said the risk is low still and that depends on the individual, like how their body deals with the implants but he does it in a way to reduce the risk possible xx

From my research I did textured where favoured in the fact they feel more real them smooth my Sugoen said the risks are the same pretty much now and it all depends on how the body responds to the implant on each person xxxx
