SO MANY QUESTIONS!! Did anyone start with an awkward size? Started by: Roxy

I literally have 101 questions to ask.. I’m awaiting my first consultation and I’m 99% sure I want this op done and asap regardless of whether I have to finance or take out a loan etc..
I know I’ll end up with a mindblank when I meet with a PC and there are some questions I wanted to ask on here because I know you girls have the experience.
First of all, did anyone find they started their journey with their natural breasts a really awkward measurement? I measure as a 30D – anyone who looked at me (and looking at myself) would probably presume I’m an A – but because the back size is 30 apparently it warrants a D cup but regardless I have really small breasts.. which makes me think if I went to a double D does my back stay a 30? because that’s only one cup up right.. and I’m really flat chested now at the beginning of this journey.

Another few questions.. what were all your surgeons like and how many meetings did you have pre op? Also, what was the time scale between your initial consultation and your actual op.

How rare are infections? and do many of them require a removal and replacement or are they typically treated with antibiotics and end up OK in the end? I’ve heard about having overs/ unders and partials etc.. which is the lowest risk or do all carry the same?

This probably sounds like a load of jibberish but if anyone can make any sense of it I’d be grateful for some replies haha!

Heyy I started out a 30DD and got measured today (7 weeks po) and Im now a 30F. I had 300/350cc overs. I had my initial consultation and met my surgeon on 4th jan (was lucky he was in the building) had my pre op 2 days later and had my surgery 2nd Feb. My surgeon was Mr Traynor very straight to the point but such an amazing surgeon. As for infection advice youre best asking at the pre op for best advice 🙂 xx

ah i was the same had so many questions and then my mind just went blank when i went for my consultation lol. write them all down for the day 🙂
i asked my nurse about unders/overs/partials and she said unders have a much less complication rate. less risk of capsular contracture ad rippling xx

It also depends on how much tissue you have as to whether you can have overs/ unders. If you have a very developed chest muscle unders aren’t really suitable. If you have hardly any tissue to work with overs aren’t. Unders seem to carry less risks of things like capsular contracture and rippling but I’m 99% sure you can still get it either way! It’s such a big decision but so worth it! I had my consultation late January, 5 weeks later I had my op! All surgeons are different and will offer you a variety of sizes & implants though so don’t feel like you have to stick with the first one you meet if you aren’t happy with what they’ve offered! You also leave hospital with a course of antibiotics to reduce infection risk but they can still occur. Good luck 🙂 xxx

Aw thanks girls you’re all so helpful! Doesn’t sound like there was a huge wait for any of you either which is making me feel really positive 🙂 I literally know nothing about my own boobs in regards to muscle and tissue so can’t wait to actually get some proper advice on what they think is best for me xx

@Ellie2015 have you had your op yet?
Yeah, high profile are very popular! I think that’s why I really wanted them and I wanted the extra projection but when he explained, it all made sense! Otherwise I’d have a huge gap in the middle and they’d poke right out- which I wouldn’t want! Lol xx

@levidolly boux avenue, m&s and debenhams do 30 back sizes. Boux avenue do a few in a 28 back aswell. All in larger cups too. After surgery your back wont change so might be worth having a little look cos wearing the wrong size bra isn’t good for ya xx

Debenhams do quite a good range I had a good look in there. Don’t know if anyone can help but I got measured in debenhams. She measured my back with a tape measure and said I was a 32 but just left my sports bra on and said you look about double D so went and got me some to try on and they seem to fit okay so that’s the size she said I was. Never been measured before but is that how they do it? For some reason I always thought I would have to take my bra off and they would measure around the boobs lol xx

Yupp thats how they do it. I went to boux and m&s yesterday to get measured and the girl in boux was brilliant but in m&s she was so bad. She measured my back at 32 and tried me in a 32e. I have never had a 32 back and later found it measured 30 on the dot. Then when i told her this she said well i can try you in a 30 and brought a 30E (when back gets smaller cup goes bigger) so i walked out cos she didnt know what she was doing xx

@Eilish-x @ellie2015 thank you ladies! I’ve always struggled to find the right bra! Not only size wise either! I have a very flat chest (in terms of boob, body fat and muscle!) so even if I can find the right bra size, often they dig or don’t fit well 🙁 But I’m hoping once I get my boobies, I’ll be fine!
Thank you though girls! Great help! As soon as I’ve had my boobies done and I’m allowed to get measured and but new bras, I’ll go to about Avenue, Debenhams and M&S ? Xxx

oh really. my nurse told me to get measured at m&s as they are best lol but the lady who works at my local one sees me in there all the time so i just went debenhams. its important they should measure us right though! the lady who did me was rushed off her feet and quite stressed.

once you get measured it opens up a whole new world of bras lol xx

@levidolly I was terrified of the needle! Nearly talked myself out of it on the day aswell cos I had a 6 hour wait. But now all the sickness and everything afterwards was totally worth it.

    @ellie2015
I’ve been measured at m&s loads, I was measured for my sports bras there and the lady was fab (she measured my back at a 30 too but couldnt fit me in a 30 back sports bra cos of the design) but this other woman was useless! Totally put me off going back cos she had absolutely no idea what she was doing xx

@levidolly it will fly by and you’ll have your twins soon enough :). Also don’t worry too much about overs/partials/unders. The surgeon will give you what’s best. I had overs and had no problems at all. Barely any pain, incisions have healed nicely, they look just like normal boobs 🙂 xx

I wanted unders because of the look on my small frame but then again I was scared because it’s more painful to have unders! ? but I am excited and happy with everything so far xxx

You have around about the same stats as me. Surgeon will tell you whats best though :). I had enough tissue to be able to have overs though xx
