I’ve been going out for walks since the day after my op. Apart from the odd twinge in my shoulder blades towards the end of the day (probably my body adjusting to new weight) I’ve not had much pain at all, anywhere. The nurse at the hospital told me that sleeping on your back and sitting up is not for anything other than stopping the implants for moving so as long as you stay on your back and don’t role to the side it’s fine. I started off more or less sitting straight up and have lowered it a little bit every night (my backside couldn’t take the pressure for more than a couple of nights!). The other thing she said was “don’t be an invalid”. I haven’t and I honestly think that carrying on as normal (within reason) has helped with recovery.

I’ve not had my op yet and not sure if this helps but I have bought loads of cold packs, for my back, cool gel, heat gel, and those heat pads that you stick to your back and it gives relief for 12hrs +!
I have got a spinal condition, so I have permanent back pain anyway, I find gentle movements help, sometimes heat sometimes cool, depends 🙂 get your Hubbie to massage your back whilst your sat up. Keep your neck moving as well, or you will get a crook neck on top ? That makes things a lot worse trust me!
I’m dreading the back pain, I have to see a chiropractor twice a week to keep the pain at ease, and my nurse says I can’t see him for 4-6 weeks ?

getting up for a small walk everyday will
make a massive difference girls, it’ll help with stomach pains and back pain as you’re probably a bit bunged up from all the painkillers and antibiotics. also i found heat pads worked wonders on my back and i took herbal sleeping tablets to help me at night. your muscles will also be tense from the new additions as it’s extra weight and you might be tense from not wanting to hurt them or strain yourself too much so try to relax and think about how good you’ll feel once your fully healed 🙂 hope you all feel better soon! xxx
