I have within past weeks posted in agreement saying that the macom is the best and most comfortable whilst I agree with myself for the first week or so I have since road tested others!! I brought 1 from Asda and 2 different styles from sainsbury’s and finally I brought the zip up one from m & s and I can honestly say at this present time the marks and Spencer’s wins hands down for quality, comfort and support. The macom recently started hurting me and was making my nipples incredibly sore through the feel of material it felt a lil bit rough even with extra fabric softener being used! It also gave me a rash under my arms 🙁 it started feeling like I was wearing an underwired bra that had broken and was digging in me all in all I started to really hurt so I tried the Asda 1 (whilst I washed the macom) it was fine for a few hours but not very supportive so I only lasted a few hours before they hurt so put the macom back on plus it was now dry! The sainsbury’s ones had a bigger back size and a smaller cup size but I tried them I lasted a day and night so it did feel much better and more comfortable but I just cannot get over the m & s bra I actually have a smile on my face I love it and I would suggest that you ladies save yourselves around £15 and try this one the material is so soft and it’s for extra high impact and support so they ain’t moving! They give you a lovely shape too and much easier to do up as its a zip had to share this with you all!!!! Lol xx

I totally agree with you Jenny…I bought two macoms and found they were alright but not comfortable, I bought he black
Zip up one from m and a yesterday and I love it so comfortable and makes my boobs look loads bigger and rounded and most importantly more supported x

Hi ladies, @stephanie there is a huge difference quite amazing really my boobs no longer hurt or ache and I completely agree 😀 @ Ruth & Gail I went in to a massive store for mine and I’m glad I did as I tried on a 32DD that wasn’t even close the 32E was still snug so ended up texting my bloke to bring me a 32F which feels fantastic sounds huge but it’s not! With regards to the size if you ask your nurse she can advise accordingly but if you do know then try this link http://m.marksandspencer.com/mt/www.marksandspencer.com/Zip-Front-Non-Wired-Sports-B-G/dp/B006LTWOE4#infopopup if that doesn’t work google m & s zip up bra it should take you straight to it and of course you can add me Ruth 🙂 good luck and happy healing ladies 🙂 xx

Found it.I’m sure I was advised not to have a racer back unless I imagined it,lol. Would there be any reason that a racer back bra wouldn’t be appropriate? Xx

I have no idea! I didn’t get told any of that there’s also been a few other ladies over the past months that got the zip ups from m & s every surgeon has their own opinion but like I say I just got told to get a sports bra! xx

Have to agree with the M&S! It felt sooo supportive when I wore it after my op and the zip was soooo convenient when you can’t lift you arms very high!xx

I’m 100% getting the m&s one just waiting for after my op (9 days to go) so I know what size cause I’ve no idea what I’m going to be wearing!! Haha x

I think I was told not to wear a racer back when I initially had my consultation with The hospital group, however may have been because they wanted me to buy the bra’s from them lol xx

    Hi Gail,
I’m sat in fornt of the computer now looking order my sports bra but… I don’t know what size :)! What did you go for? I’m usually a 34B… and I’m having either 38s/415s/450 after requesting to be around a DD (likely to be 415s I think) so thinking of going for a 36 DD (for straight after op) and maybe a 34DD for a few weeks later once the swellings gone down a bit!?

    Ladies… advice 🙂 xx

    Hi Jackie
I’ve decided to keep my Macon and got a 34 the cup stretches to accommodate all cup sizes. I will also get a cheaper one for when washing the Macon but I’m getting it off eBay, once again you only have to buy back size and its a zip up front xx

    Hiya
Emma, how’s the recovery been? Anything you would advise sorting out pre op? Actually, a quick question… I will be going back to work a week PO (I’m marketing, so just an office job), but wondering about clothes… Will I be able to get anything ivert head after a week? Or do I need to invest in some button blouses?

Gail, good stuff – my M&S bra came today – I tried it on… Ha! Looking forward to actually filling it…..! I think I will probably get a couple of others this weekend (from asda and maybe primarni) just to mix it up a bit…I’m a runner and a horse rider so, pretty sure I’ll reuse them later down the line!

    Xx

The recovery was fine i cant really complain, one of my scars opened ever so slightly after about 10 days but it wasnt a massive issue healed again by itself after about another 2 and a bit weeks. No wouldnt advise anything really pre op! id say when youve had it get a v pillow for sleeping and sitting it makes things a little easier. No i’m the same just an office job and i was fine with all my other clothes just be careful whilst lifting your arms but i was absoulely fine, i was knackered on my first day back so they let me go home a bit earlier and driving hurt me when i went into reverse and 5th gear but everyone is different! when is yours? x

    Jackie

Yeah, I’ve ordered a v pillow off of amazon as they were doing a deal on there!
Oh that’s good to know! Could do with saving some pennies this month! Yeah, I have a feeling I’m going to struggle reversing out of my driveway!!

I’m having my op next Friday! Not long to go now :)! I get so impatient reading all the posts on here! Are you happy with your results? Xx

I am ridiculously excited… And a little nervous :)! I’m having it at Droitwich Spa hospital and Mr Schiavone is doing it! What about you?
Yeah, I’m going to go mad I reckon… I’ve been building up a collection of things on My sky planner to watch whilst I’m off!! Ha! I still reckon after a few days in going to be fed up though!

Boob greed!! I go through phases of worrying that they’re going to be too big… Then the next moment I’m worried they won’t be big enough!! But to be honest… So long as they’re better than what they are now… I’ll be happy!! Xx

They probably mean not a racer back if its one you need to put over your head as this wouldn’t be ideal straight after a BA but if it zips/fastens up the front then it should be fine x

Just a further update my m & s zip up racer back is still way more comfy and hides under clothes better too @ Liz I think your right because they said just make sure they do up at the front or back so you don’t have to try pulling anything over your head xx

hey girls, I bought the macom bra that Jenny isn’t so happy with but I love it! I’m 3 months post-op now but still wear it as a sports bra. That rash sounds strange jen as I never really felt anything like that. Though I was quite careful not to put it in the washing machine or to put any proper chemicals on it so that may be the reason? I also bought a sparks one but the cups aren’t expandable on that whereas they are on the macom bra. Hope this helps! x

Hey Hun no I’ve been the same I think it’s just the seem bit that runs under the arm that is causing it I’m currently wearing it as other one been washed so gotta wait for it to dry! I just find that the elasticated bit is so close to the incisions and because I had problems with one of my incisions it just felt like it was constantly rubbing on it the final straw for me really was when I went out for a couple hours and it had rubbed so much it felt burnt and I was in pain and walking but leaning forward slightly with my hans up my top pulling it down so it didn’t rub 🙁 I’m not rubbishing the macom I’m just saying that it has not worked out for me and that there are other sports bras that I feel offer the same and in the m&s bras case more support so ladies shouldn’t feel pressured in to buying the macom because they are quite expensive and a lot of ladies say whilst they know the amount they have spent on there ba they need to get a decent sports bra to give them the support but money is an issue having spent out so much on the procedure in the first place! I’m glad your happy with yours and you must be thrilled now your well past the stage of needing your sports and wearing normal bras now I myself cannot wait 3 weeks left and counting!!! Lol xx

aw yeah thats completely normal Jackie i was the same just wanted it over with, i was so nervous on the day thought and nearly didnt go through with it but im sooo glad i did now! i had Mr Traynor at Preston 🙂 yeah i was fed up for quite a while more so because of the sports bras, you just wanna be able to wear normal ones so that does get annoying! yeah i was the exact same but everyone says they look right on me but i would still love to go bigger one day! there massive for a while cause of how swollen they are but that obviously goes! so weird how much they change all the time! xx

HI jenny I know that it is a bit more expensive to get the macom bra but I would recommend to girls that they do as, as my surgeon told me, it is a medically designed and proven bra which is made particularly for post surgery. my worry with the other sports bras was that they could not be giving me enough support as they are more ‘all-purpose’ if you know what i mean! I had the same thoughts as you about spending that bit extra on it (the op cleaned me out!) but I think it is worth it for peace of mind 🙂 . I’m the same as you emma, I had my op 4 months ago (thinking about having some more work done. eek!) but I still use my macom bra in the gym every day! x

The great thing with macom is the adjustable cups! unfortunately we dont know what size we will be so its the ideal bra post op, who wants the hassle of exchanging bras post op! but my mum did go and get me the extra high impact from m&s its good to see it has good reviews! she managed to get one from the outlet so was only £11 just hope it fits!

hey girsl sorry i’m a little late on this but I just saw this blog post when researching bras. it tells you why the different reason why a macom bra is better than a sports one. cos i was worried that a normal sports bra wouldn’t really be comfortable or might not be good after the operation. see you think! x http://macomcompressiongarments.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/macom-bra-code-1007-versus-sports-bra.html

    Hiya Joanna,

I went for the M&S SB and got a 36DD (as I am a 34b). I’m having 385/415/450s (likely the 415s) overs. I think you’ll be alright with a DD. I think I’m going to get and E size too – just incase the swelling initially makes my cup size bigger. I cn always take it back if I don’t need it! The nurses at MYA reccomended the M&S one too me and advised that a lot of girls have been purchasing this bra and they feel its adequate (especially at the macom is quite costly).
    When’s your op Hun?

    Xx
