Sticky plaster residue on scars

Post op girls what can I do. The nurse put this very thin little plaster type tape on my incisions on Wednesday and told me to take it off after 2 days. I took it off and it’s left like a sticky residue behind. I’m scared to scrub at it or anything to get it off and it’s making my bra kind of stick to my incisions which can’t be good. I’m feeling really stressed about it and not sure how to get it off. Should I just gently go st it with a damp flannel? Or pick it off? The thought of that makes me squirm but I can’t leave it.

Oils are really good at dissolving sticky stuff! If you have an oil cleanser for face or olive oil if not? On a cotton bud rubbed onto the sticky bits and wiped off with a flannel should get rid of them! Just be careful not to get on incisions 🙂 xx

That’s what I was thinking but it feels like it’s actually on the scar itself. Where the scars are still healing I just feel so nervous. I tried with a bit of bio oil on a cotton bud but it’s kind of hard to tell what’s an incision and what’s like a crease. I’m getting all in a tizz. I’m allowed to shower but sticky stuff can have a tendency to cling. I did just find some of the stickiness had transferred to my bra so I’ve changed bras and hopefully some more will come off on this one too.

I had this! I actually discovered that the residue is stickier when wet, wait til it’s dry & gently rub & roll it. It starts to come away. Be patient it took an age as I had it on my nipples too. Once you’ve got a little sticky ball, stick that on anything that’s still stuck & it’ll come away (hope this makes sense!) I had to replace the tape for two weeks daily & found that taking it off in the shower made it stickier, if I took it off before hand whilst it was dry it came clean away! & left no residue. X

Thank you @emhawkes79 it’s starting to really stress me out. I’ll try and gently go at it dry. Some of it seems to be transferring to the inside of my bra which is actually a good thing. At least it’s not on my body. I’m free of dressings now once this stickyness is off so I just want it gone. X

Omg I was the same! It was so irritating! I used the last of my tape so today the dressing finally comes off. I don’t know about you but I’ve found all of the irritation from the dressings post op worse than any pains from the op!! Xx

It’s actually just making me so stressed @emhawkes79 I can’t believe it lol. I feel like I’m getting used to the boobs and the aches and pains all seem to have subsided but now I’m dealing with sticky tape issues!! I don’t get why they put this tape on that causes such a sticky residue. The first dressing she put on didn’t do this! I’m sat ther with a mirror looking at my incisions and gently trying to pick tape off them. Such drama. Sooooo glad this is the last of it though!

Yup same!! I have a redness all around where the dressings have been, even the surgical ones did this so I think I might be allergic to it. Never had any wounds/surgery before so never had any dressings but it’s made me sooo itchy too. The breast band is irritating my skin too so I can’t wait to see my surgeon tomorrow at my 4 wk check & get the ok to stop wearing that too! This is the stuff they don’t tell you about eh?

Haha definitely. I better ask my nurse actually because she told me I only have to wear the breast band for 4 weeks but I don’t see her now until I’m 6 weeks? Hopefully I am free to just take it off after 4 weeks lol. Honestly such drama. I’m feeling pretty good now but this plaster residue is literally on the scar and im a bit worried will it like be a problem with the scars trying to fuse together. Ugh I don’t even like thinking about it. Hopefully it starts to come off day by day. I can’t seem to really get any decent amount of it off.
