Stitches

Hi girls

I’m 16 days post op and so far I’ve had an amazing recovery! Have been very lucky!
However I am due to go back tomorrow for my 2 week check, which I’m not sure why as others haven’t had a second check before their 6 week one….anyway….I’ve noticed that I’ve still got the long bits of the stitches that they leave….shouldn’t they have dissolved by now?! And if so why haven’t they lol! I have been washing but I’m dying for a good shower ha ha!
Also anyone know how long u have to sleep on your back?! I feel ok lying on my side, haven’t don’t it much, coz I’m scared it’ll. squash my implant or something snd I don’t think I can do it anyway til 6 week?!?

Hya Kirsty, I went back for my 1 week check up, had my incisions checked and was given the all clear to shower.
(Although I think this depends on your wounds and if their closed)
I also had the long bits of stitches left and was told to go back a week later to have them trimmed, so I would think that will be why your going back for them trimmed.
Did you have Mr Traynor by any chance? He apparently leaves the sutures long to help with the healing of the scars.
And as for sleeping on your side, Iv found myself on my side from about week 3 (unintentionally!) Lol!
I go to sleep on my back and wake up on my side xx

My incisions were all ok so I wonder why I wasn’t able to shower?! Which clinic are you at? Yeah I had Mr Traynor….Aah right, so they’re not meant to have dissolved by now? That’s ok then! That’ll be what I’ll be going back for then! I thought they were a bit of the dressing thst had got stuck in my scar and tugged a bit before I realised it was the stitch…now my scar feels a bit itchy! I so hope ive not done something lol!! So hoping I get the ok to shower lol!
I just want a full nights undisturbed sleep! I’m still on my back but started drifting onto my side! Xx

Hey Kirsty happy new year chick I was told that I could sleep on the sides if it was comfy and had good sports bra that would hold up and together she told me if it hurts don’t do it but I everything one different so week two I was on my sides I’m 4 weeks post op and I’ve got few a stitch ends sticking out but with smoothing out my scarring they seem to be dropping off 1st weeks had a check 2nd week had a check then a check up in 3rd weeks and in6 weeks I’m book n to see my surgeon x

Hiya! Aw that’s good then about the stitches that they stay in that long as I really did think they dissolved after about a week lol!! And good to hear about sleeping on my side! Might start doing it s bit more then as I’m dying for a full nights sleep! Xx happy new year to you too xx

I suppose every clinic and nurse will give slightly different advice. Im with the Manchester clinic hun.
And know what you mean about wanting a full nights sleep. Im 5 weeks post op now and dying to star fish on my front!!
Not sure if I’l ever be doing that again lol! Xx

The nurse said to me in my 1 week check about going back the following week for end of the stitches to be trimmed… I said is that all I need to come for. .. she said yes… then said or she can trim them there and then to save me going back. So that is what she did x I only have to back at 6 week po. X also I was told at 1 week it’s fine to shower just don’t rub the incisions and pat them. Dry with a clean towel. x

It’s just the losse ends that seem not go away I had mine trim down by nurse n the 1st week and she said to shower but when I did this I notice that she didn’t put the stri strips back over and my stitches had come undone as u can see from my pic yes I was told to use one clean towel on them Janet how u getting on now my lovely ? Think last time I seen u on hear you was little unsure on the size u went xx

I wish I had thought to ask that Janet! Bit of a trek just to trim stories! But I wana ask her about them anyway so not such a wasted journey! I got told I couldn’t shower til 2 week but then no appts til today lol! I was gonna ask the same thing coz u were worried u had gone too big?! Xx

Hiya. . They still feel huge naked.. and massive when iv tried a bikini top on. I go on hol in 8 weeks maybe il have go for bikinis that make them look a bit smaller. . Don’t want all family looking lol . X in clothes there great. And when I go away without parents and in laws um sure I won’t mind them looking bug in a bikini lol.. Hubby says there huge out of normal clothes xx but I’m glad a went for 550 xx
