Hi girls, just wondered if anyone can help me. I’m 7 weeks post op from my BA on Friday. Not seen nurse for my 6 week check yet or even got an appointment for one as the Nottingham clinic has moved premises so still waiting on an appointment. My little one is wanting me to take her swimming whilst in the school holidays, just wondered when I would be ok to do this? Have tried to contact my pc but not managed to get hold of her xx

Hiya @carla I was told at my 12 day check with the nurse that I could shower but not to get soap on my incisions and not to stay in the shower for too long. So you should be ok at 3 weeks post op 🙂 xx

As you haven’t see your surgeon I’d advice against it Hun ; I’m a lifeguard and a swimming teacher so I know those pools aren’t the cleanest of places + plus all the chemicals in the pool! There is that small chance you’re aren’t completely healed!
Chances are you are 100% healed but sometimes people are told not to exercise or wear underwire until 8 weeks, I’d hold off just to be on the safe side and ring up your clinic and push for that appointment to be booked and made, because, like i said hun im sure you’re healed but if you weren’t you will be susceptible to infections, would be a shame to have problems this far down your recovery process! Sorry to put a damper on your swimming day with your little one but better to be safe than sorry! xxx

Thanks Hun, think I will leave it then as I hadn’t thought about the cleanliness of the pools, just assume there clean don’t you. Have asked mya mod to contact my pc for me as not been able to get hold of her since Friday, so hoping she will call today. Just feel awful I can’t take her swimming just yet when she loves it so much. But like you say it’s not worth the risk, so will wait and see if she calls xx

You must also remember all the dirty people that jump in without showering and take all there deodorant, hair products and everything else in the pool too, you’re submerged in that for the whole time, like I said its all the chemicals in pools too! It’s certainly not the cleanest place! I know it’s a real shame but there’s still a few weeks left yet, it’ll be well worth her wait giving you piece of mind that you’re 100% healed and safe to exercise and submerge. I’d really push for that appointment explain that you have a busy life with a little one and want to enjoy summer and that you can’t do that without knowing you’re 100% healed, you are entitled to your after care!! xxx

I can’t even get hold of my pc her phone has been switched off the last 2 days 🙁 really want my appointment so I know when I can go swimming, join the gym again etc and know that they are healing well. Not sure what other number to try ringing for the Nottingham clinic xx

Have rang the Birmingham clinic, my pc isn’t well which is why I can’t get in contact with her. Now got to go to the Birmingham clinic for my 6 week check (will be 7 week 4days) as the Nottingham clinic is still awaiting the premises to be approved before they can give appointments with the nurse xx
