So my husband obviously knows and so does my mum (and was totally supportive from the beginning amazingly!) I even took her to a consultation with me in whivh i had to strip off… i bet she last saw me like that when i was 12! And I’ve told 3 friends, one who I work with, all of who think it’s fab in a nice way for me.

What worries me is telling my dad (separated parents), telling my extended family such as mother in law / father in law and also people at work finding out. I have an 8 year old son & 4 year old daughter so any thoughts of hiding away for 2 weeks isn’t going to happen and no doubt they’ll blab even if they don’t mean to!

So any advice ‘re telling people? I DON’T WANT to be ashamed of it, I’m doing it to fit a bra & feel better (feel like a woman rather than a pre-puberty teenager). Or can I not tell people and just try to stay low for a week until I can move about better?

My mother in law has had breast cancer and has had a breast reconstruction following this. I worry she may see it from a different (negative) perspective x

    Hey honey!!

I’m currently saving for my BA and trying to lose the last of my weight before I have them done next year. I’m in exactly the same position as you!! My mam knows and so does the boyfriend, but the idea of telling the in-laws etc just doesn’t feel right!!

Hiya hun I’m now 20days p.o. and honestly I couldn’t care less who knows I want to shout it from the roof tops my dad wasn’t overly pleased neither was my mum ,my mother in law knows infact even some of the parents at school know, I didn’t have them done for anyone but me so why should I care what people think of me if anyone said anything at all to me I would presume that they were jealous that I have perky boobies after having 4 children and that I can now wear a nice pretty dress with no bra haha honestly hold your head high most women would probably have it done if they could they just wont admit it x

I ware a extremely padded bra for months before I had the op and told no one that I didn’t need to.
I’ve been back at work for a week and no one has said a dicky bird to me, I’m not ashamed I just don’t do centre of attention. So staying quiet suited me. Xx

I have my surgery in 2 weeks an the only people who know are my mum my partner and my best friend. My partner is not at all supportive about it he doesnt want me to get them done! But as i told him its my money an my body so its up to me! If i was asking him to pay for it then that would be different but im not, i have paid it myself so he doesnt get a say lol. I dont really care who knows i just feel awkward about telling people like oh yeah dad im getting a boob job in 2 weeks haha i just dont know how to aproach it!! X

I was so worried about this before my op! The only people who know are my mum, my fiancé , grandmother, two of my aunties, 3 of my closest friends (they’ve always known I’ve wanted one) and my boss at work (who I get on with and only told incase of complications). Everyone else, including more close friends, my dad (parents separated) and all his side of the family, inlaws etc do not know . I came to the conclusion just before I had it done that why should anyone need to know?! My decision, and as cliche as it sounds I’ve done it for me and no one else… it shouldn’t affect anyone else around me what I’ve chosen to do with my body. If anyone did notice, I’ve decided that my initial answer would be ‘ a good new bra’ and if they still pressed, then yes I have had one because I wasn’t happy and struggled for 10 years trying to find clothes that didn’t make me look like a child! Saying that though, I honestly don’t think anyone will notice if I didn’t want them to. My bras were that padded before (boost bras… 2 extra cup sizes anyone?!) that my silhouette in tops is very similar. It’s only when I wear something low cut that you can see there’s been a boost!

So my advice is DO NOT WORRY! 🙂 There’s so many bad things that go on in the world, and your boob job is not one of them! Xxx

Tbh it’s really none of their business tbh as its elective surgery ur having not a heart by pass or chemo. It’s something u have chosen to improve how u feel about urself.
They may notice a change in ur confidence, posture and slight tweak in ur clothing at first.

For the first six weeks u will be strapped or covered up in supportive bras and most likely wearing baggy clothes to cover it.

I live with my brother and I still haven’t told him and I’m 8 months post op, although it’s pretty obvious I’ve had them done. He hasnt asked. When I went for the op I just said I had an op and post op just asked him to open jars etc.

You would be surprised how people respond. In my experience some didn’t notice much, some knew but felt embarrassed to ask or don’t really care to know and leave it be. Some want to know everything and just start grabbing at them. One girl I worked with in lingerie years ago who I hadn’t seen or spoken to on years was really sneaky and ask annoying questions knowing full well I’d had them done but I may have just been paranoid and sensitive at the time. She just made comments under my pic on instagram about what bra am I wearing. I just felt irritated tbh but as time goes on its easier.

Now if I get compliment about my boobs from even strangers on a night out I just blurt out they’re not real, tell them my surgeon and I went with Mya. I wana atop doing it tbh but I feel a fraud when I get compliments of how perky and full they are etc esp at my grand age (I’m 34 a week today)

Also bare in mind that when u disclose certain information some people feel the need to have an opinion on something or judge u for ur choices. All of which aren’t warranted.

    Fxx

Thank you SO much for all your replies!

You’re all right – who the heck does it matter to?! No one! I’m going to hold my head up high like Charlie says… and yes I bet most women would get it done if they had the chance! Roll on November!

    Thanks all x

I’ve always wanted my boobs done since I was 16! And wasn’t ashamed in telling anybody although my boyfriend wasn’t the most pleased, his family arnt big on any plastic surgery so they haven’t really said anything to me about it other than make snide comments! On the other hand my mum/aunty/grandma couldn’t me happier! I have friends that know too but I haven’t gone shouting it from the roof tops! I think if people have something bad to say about it it usually all stems down to jealousy that they probably couldn’t afford to get them done!! Xx

My dad told me only people with mental health problems have cosmetic surgery! I was so shocked! He hasn’t said a thing to me since I had mine done about it but every now and then I catch him giving me the dissapointed look and I hate it because I was so close to him before! I can’t understand why he can’t just be happy for me as I’m happy now I’ve had it done!

I totally agree! I keep thinking people do all sorts of changes to themselves, like hair dye, false nails, fake tan, even just applying make up everyday! These all make us look better (usually ha!) And they are all for a confidence thing. Yeah a BA is surgery with anaesthetic and costs thousands of pounds, but the reasons for having one are the same! I do think as someone said, it’s usually those blessed with naturally bigger boobies that take the mick or ‘don’t understand’ why people have breast implants…. Well if I had naturally Olive skin I probably wouldn’t fake tan so isn’t this just the same?!!!
