So I’m sure lots of you girls saw me moaning on here (a lot) after my op, I had such a rough few days with the strapping cutting into my skin, being sick, not being able to sleep at all, not being able to put a bra on, and the antibiotics gave me thrush so i was feeling very sorry for myself. I basically just laid (at an uncomfortable 45 degree angle) on my sofa in nothing but the strapping crying hysterically for the past four days. My boyfriend bending over backwards to help me whilst I cried and told him I’m ugly now and he doesn’t want me despite his many reassurances haha.
But I’m now 5dpo and I actually feel like myself again! Yesterday I managed to get up on my own, put a tshirt on, I rang the nurse again who let me loosen the strapping and give myself some relief, my boyfriend gave me a bath and washed my hair and helped me put a bit of makeup on and we took the dog down the beach and I just sat whilst he threw the ball around for her and it made me feel so much better. I actually feel human again!! I’m getting really fed up of being inside as we live in a tiny studio apartment at a holiday resort where we both work, so I can’t really go wander around in the days because work think I’ve thrown my back out rather than had an op haha. But besides feeling a little trapped inside I’m feeling much more myself so just for any girls after their op who can’t imagine it getting better, it does!!!
Now just have to deal with these last three days on the sofa and then I can get this HORRIBLE strapping off and hopefully continue with my normal life 🙂
Can’t wait to actually see what they look like under this torturous tape, will post some pics when I do!!!
Ahhh yay glad you’re feeling better! I feel almost normal again and have actually come back to work (office job) but on Saturday was in tears all day too feeling sick and rubbish. Emotional rollercoaster but will be worth it and totally agree about the strapping I can’t wait to get rid of it!
Oh dear.. maybe spoke to soon.. the sickness is back with a vengeance!! Can’t keep anything down. Atleast I’m less sore haha xx
Glad ur feeling better Hun. I’ve also been really struggling but found goin out really helped. Still haven’t washed my hair got a friend coming over this morning to give me a blow dry I’m so excited
Patience is the key Hun. It is a MASSIVE emotional roller coaster and there are soooo many things we worry about. Take each day as it comes and I promise it’s gets much, much easier. Every day now you will feel a bit better as your body heals.
When does the strapping come off, is it after a week? What a relief that will be. Xx
@beckis yeah after about a week, I get it off on Thursday. So excited haha. Feeling a lot less emotional and more myself again, just can’t stop being sick!! Read on here the codeine can cause it so stopped taking that 2 nights ago and switched to paracetamol but still really sick. Just waiting for the nurse to call me back and see what they advise xx
Hi Maddie , so glad to hear you feel bit better, could really tell from your previous post you were so tormented! , have you got any anti sickness tabs, maybe Quells could help. I’m dreading been sick cos I suffer really bad with nausea in general. I have found pepto-bismal tablets are good for nausea , not the liquid the tabs. I’ve just got my time for Friday 9am! first in due to the fact I am a sickly person and I get faint if I don’t eat. Incidentally , were you an afternoon or morning slot for your op?? the advisor at the place I am going to said that people seem to feel more sick when they are an afternoon slot!? hope you have a better day xx
@pearl500 Hey Hun, no I don’t have any anti-sickness things. It only started about 2 days ago and hasn’t been this bad until today so not having a great time. Alone all day today so haven’t got a hope of getting any either. Can’t even keep water down, thinking it’s just due to being on so much medication or something.
Good luck!!! Hope it all goes well for you, it’s not an easy process but it’s so exciting so just try remain positive. As sick as I feel I have no regrets. My admission was 7.30am and I went down for my op at 9am, I didn’t leave the hospital until nearly 11pm so it was a long day but I wasn’t sick or nauseous at all the first couple of days! Good luck anyway Hun keep us all updated xx
Thanks Maddie, I’m dreading the after part, hope you feel better soon xx
I know it sounds ridiculous but it honestly could be your body still recovering from anaesthetic and then being put on medication. Codeine is so strong, I stopped taking it after 1 day as I felt so sick with it, then took ibuprofen and felt worse like I had the flu and sick all at once (normally am fine with ibuprofen) so think it is the whole mix of things. Also new foreign objects in your body it’s just maybe you’re more sensitive. See what they say but I am sure it is fine.
