The pill?

Hi girls, just a quick question, my op date was the 26th march. Now moved forward to 26th feb!! Only 16 days now. So excited

My bloody phone isn’t loading my stuff, sorry lol. basically about the contraceptive pill, do you have to stop it as I don’t really want to unless i do have to ? Xx

Yeah you do – you have to stop 2 weeks before your op and you can start taking it two weeks after. This is because it thins your blood so can cause complications xx

Hi, my surgeon hasn’t told me to stop taking it, perhaps check with your PC x

Neither has mine Jenni. I put on my form that im on it and it has not been mentioned. I’ve had a few other ops and never been asked to stop it, I’ll message my pc though. Thank you 🙂 xx

He did ask me what I was on but no other comment, maybe it depends on the type xx

I wasn’t told to stop taking it until I had my pre-op check. Only the nurse mentioned it to me, but you do have to stop taking it 2 weeks before and stay off it until 2 weeks after as it could cause complications during surgery and may cause DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) xx

Hey Hayley I was told it was down to me whther I stop or not. I took mine up until my op day and I am now 4 days PO. It gives a higher risk of DVT that’s why they say to stop xx
