Time off work

Can i use a sick note for week off recovery or annual leave does any one know

I used annual leave for a week then I called in sick for the week after I just told them I had minor surgery and that it was private and no more questions were asked I didn’t tell anyone as they can refuse to pay u as it’s by choice and not medical xx
