Transport to hospital

Hi!
I’ve been informed I can’t take public transport to the OP and my partner is driving me up, however when I mentioned that we’re staying in the hotel around a ten minute walk from the hospital I was told I should get a taxi along with my chaperone there. Are you allowed to go on public transport on the way home, even though they tell you to isolate post op? Just a bit confused so wanted to check if anyone’s had experiences during COVID with transport! X
