Travel to and from First Trust Hospital Preston

Hey ladies, So as you may spot already, I’m new here. Do say I had my first consultation and before I’ve even met the surgeon; I’ve been offered February 2nd for my surgery!!! I’d take in a heartbeat, the only problem is I have no idea how I’m going to go about getting there and back. From what I’ve saw I’m going to have to get the train from Newcastle (where I’m from) to Preston train station, followed by either 2 bus journeys or an expensive 20 minute taxi. And then I’ll have to do it all again the day after surgery. Can someone please tell me that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that there is an easier way to get there and back because I just feel like giving up before I even start 🙁

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou!
(P.s I don’t drive or know anyone who would drive me. My surgery is very hush hush)

You have to have a chaperone for 24 hours. Does the person who is looking after you drive as that will be the best way to get there. Also if you live over an hour away they do prefer you to book yourself into a hotelover night so your not travelling after the surgery. I hope this helps hun x

My mam and partner are coming with me (along with my 5 month little boy). The plan was to book in to the Ibis hotel that is right around the corner from the hospital. My mam would come with me when it came to the surgery and my partner would stay at the hotel until it was all finished. Neither of us drive unfortunatly so the only way I can get there is train/coach x

Hotel near the hospital would be best if you can Hun. I had two other people on stand by to go with me if my partner couldn’t take me if something came up. Other than that ring around different taxi companies and see which would do best price maybe. Xxxx

I have no one at all that drives so I think ill have to get a train and then taxi so it’s not as long. Hopefully that will be alright. Fingers crossed xxxx

Aww Hun sorry I can’t be much help. It is a bit hard when the hospital is quite a way away and nobody you know drives. Shame no ones thought of doing a driving chaperone service for people in your situation. Xxx
