Hey ladies, I have my op booked for the 1st of March! I need to get from Newcastle to Preston what would you recommend? I will be traveling with my mum, do you think we should book a hotel for her in case I have to stay over night or will they provide accommodation for her aswell? I think I’m wanting to travel early morning the day of my op but I’m not too sure! Would really appreciate some advice

I’m the exact same on the 2nd March travelling from Newcastle and I’m unsure of this too, I’m either travelling down the night before and staying at my boyfriends dads in Leeds and that cuts an hour off the journey time, or if I get a later admission time (10am onwards) I’ll probably just drive down from home in the morning!! Really! Are you excited? I still cant believe it is so soon. So I have been looking at train times and prices and they have one leaving Newcastle at half five in the morning and you arrive in Preston at 9 am. I still am not sure what time they want me too arrive at the hospital , ill hopefully find out this Monday a my surgeon consultation. Its £150 for me and my mum and that is a open return, which is not too bad. But yes it would be soo much easier if i new someone that could drive me! do you know the time of your surgery??Also who is your surgeon??xxx

You don’t find out your admission time until 2-3 days before your op which makes things harder as you can’t really plan ahead!! Your admission time could be 8am or it could be 12!! Also I’m sure they don’t let you travel on public transport afterwards just because of the anaesthetic I think, so you would both probably have to stay in a hotel on the night of the op! Xxxxx

I’m travelling from Newcastle as well on Friday!! ? I’ve booked a hotel for me and my mam incase I’m a later case and don’t want to travel back! Probs still gonna come home though because I want my bed haha …I’ve booked the Ibus hotel like a minute drive from the Preston hospital and it was recommended on here ? it’s also a free cancellation fee incase you don’t end up staying ..we’re driving down in the morning though! So it could be a very early start haha xxx

You’re told you need to stay within half an hour of the hospital for the first night incase of any complications xx

Yes I’ve booked a hotel now 10 mins away from the hospital I’ll be staying there the night before the op and the day of the op! So it’s all sorted I thought it would be best to be there the night before so I’m in Preston and don’t have to worry about traveling the day of the op xxx

We stayed at the IBIS hotel in Preston, it was cheap and literally less than a 1 min drive
