Unrealistic going alone?

Hi ladies
So we’re travelling from leeds to preston on Monday for my op. my mother in law is having my 2 boys for the day so hubby can come with me. I’m worrying this is too much for her (7.30am till about 8pm?). So was thinking, is it realistic to book myself in a hotel in Preston the night before and then have my hubby pick me up after the op? Would I be ok alone or do you think I should have someone with me?? Will I freak out and need that support or could I do it alone? I don’t know what to do! X

My bf stayed the night before in a hotel with me and dropped me at the hospital in the morning. I was an overnight stay so he came back for me the following day, bless him! You will be fine if you would feel happier having him look after the children, you don’t wanna be worrying about the kids on top of recovering. X

I travelled from Manchester to Birmingham for my op with my boyfriend, he drove.
And all I can say is he was an absolute god send!!!
I was a day case first one down, I was fine wasn’t nervous at all.
But it was after I came round that I’m soooo glad he was there to help me!!
The general aneaestic really knocked me out and if he wasn’t there to soothe me, I honestly don’t know what I would have done.
The nurses were great, but he literally did everything for me and kept he hydrated

But, then again I did react badly from the aneaestic, so much so that I didn’t leave the hospital until 11pm at night even though I was out of theatre at 10am and the nurses did want me to stay over.
Also, I’m a mard arse and I’ve never had kids
So maybe if you’re strong you’ll be ok, as long as someone is there to take you home!! Xxx

Hi Danielle, personally I think u would be best having someone with you. I know the nurses would be there when needed etc but I don’t think I could have managed in the hospital on my own without my friend being with me. There was the odd item I’d left in my bag that she needed to get for me, lift the jug of water to refil and help me up and hold the IV fluid bag when I needed to go the loo. it’s up to u chic but If it were me I would prefer to have someone I know with me.

My husband was going to drop me off and pick me up as he needed to look after our kids, luckily my friend said she wanted to come… She didn’t want me being on my own after the op. I’m so please she came along, I was really sick after and she helped calm me down. Dread to think what mess I would of got myself in if she hadn’t of been with me! xx

I was a day case and I was gonna get dropped off and picked up but my mum ended up staying the day with me and I was sooooo glad! I really struggled to do the slightest things/movements. Even just helping me sit up and get up to go to the loo or passing me my drink. I was also quite sick from the anaesthetic so it really put me at ease and calmed me down having her around me. Xx

I’m at Highgate at the moment on my own. Hubby is coming straight from work & doesn’t look like I’ll be going down before 4 I shouldn’t be on my own for long after. More worried about my hungry tum at the moment!

I don’t think the nurses like u to be on ur own either huni for first 24 hrs I’m sure ur fellas mum will be fine 🙂 xxx

Hi Danielle, I travelled upto Preston on my own by train, stayed overnight and then a driver dropped me off home the day after. I was fine on my own to be honest staff are loverly there i found it a pleasant experience xxx

Hi Danielle i’m going on my own, the driver is picking me up from home on the day of my Op. Staying over night then he drops me home the next morning. Once i’m back home i will be fine i have my partner to look after me. I’m not nervous at all. I’m so calm & positive hoping for the best results. I’ve been advised to start taking Arnica 30c . Also i have purchased Dermatix Silicone Gel it effectively reduce scarring. Bought both from Boots. xx
