Initially booked in for BA at Preston hospital in December until my surgeon Mr Mounir decided I would need uplift w/ implants instead.
Need advice on a couple of things in order to prep for my surgery:
1) What will I need to take with me as I will have to stay overnight at the hospital?
2)Where can I find a decent surgical/support bra from? I don’t know which type etc I need to get and what would be easy to put on and take off.
3) Recovery period… scale of 1 to 10: Pain/Discomfort after having an uplift with implants. (Abit of a wimp when it comes to pain!) AND I booked a week off work, will it be enough time for me to recover?
PS went for consultation with my surgeon last week for BA and have to go back to the clinic for an uplift consultation next week.
Hi huni I am 10 weeks PO from uplift n implants, will try and answer your questions.
Hospital bag – toiletries, pjs, slippers, dressing gown, phone charger, books/magazine, sweets/snacks, post op bra and something comfy to come home in.
Post op bra – you can buy a macom bra from their website, marks n spencer do a zip up sports bra. Or any front fastening sports bra you can find.
Pain- I think everyone is different but I found the pain not too bad, more tightness than pain, like someone sat on your chest. Work wize I think it depends on your job. If you have a desk job you should be ok but if you have a manual job or stood up all day I think you’d find it hard. You can’t lift anything or do any housework for 2 weeks.
The first 3 days are the worst as you’ll be pretty out of it. Get plenty of pillows as you have to sleep upright, which is a pain! Also make sure you take painkillers round the clock. Xx
Yeah v pillows are best plus a long sausage pillow to put at the back back of knees when you ley down this will stop u from slipping down and take the pressure off your back x
Thank you for responding back 🙂 I definitely need to write all of that down as I am really bad with planning! I’m going to try on every sports bra I can find and see which I’d feel most comfortable in, how do I know what size I need to get? I am currently a flat 32C/D. I am terrible when it comes to pain intolerance! Work might be a struggle for me as my job is basically manual where I’m up on my feet all day, moving around. I will definitely invest in some pillows. I’m really worried about sleeping at nights as i can only fall asleep if I am on my front or sides. Can never fall asleep on my back. Is it a struggle to sleep on your back knowing that you have something on your chest? I heard that you’re meant to prop up your pillows to reduce the pressure, is that correct?
The macom bra comes in just your back size so you’ll need to get a small. What size implants are you getting? I had 310cc and was a C/D before, I’m now a DD/E. I just tried the sports bras on before and made sure there was plenty of room, just keep the receipts incase that are wrong size.
I sleep on my front/side too but you are that dosed up from the anestetic and painkillers you fall asleep easily but you wake up every few hours for first few nites. I slept on my side after about 6 days.
It’ll prob be to uncomfy to sleep on ur back at first anyway. I kept sliding down and trying to get back up was a nightmare!
Xx
